96 5.7 Vortec performance suggestions?

I would love to put together a 383, although idk if they will pass smog. I was thinking ls1 or ls3 as well but engine swapping will be a later project.

I’d keep the 5.7. Who wants a 327 when you can get more power for less out of a 350? There’s a reason they made them for so long.

First thing to do is to remove spider injection and update with the multi port fi. It’s plug and play and cost less then $400. Night and day difference with just that. I have eliminated my egr and cat system and tuned mine. 96 k1500. Also added a cold air intake and right now I’m about to remove the engine and rebuild with stage two cam and get it ready for a twin turbo set up. Of course there’s tons of upgrades you can do for an sbc. You just need to choose the set up for your preferences and duty of the truck itself.

That’s true, just gonna be tough keeping it emissions compliant
