95 Suburban k2500 a/c orifice tube

Agreed,they weren't the best.I currently have a clutch on my desk from a R4 that gave up on me at barely a year old

If the orifice tube was nasty, then the rest of the system is probably nasty. Might be why you’re eating compressors. I would replace the compressor, condenser, and dryer at the minimum. Flush all the lines with a/c flush or acetone or something and plenty of compressed air. The evaporators are going to be a pain to flush and or replace but definitely easier to flush than a condenser. Add the recommended amount of oil, vacuum for as long as you can and refill with regular refrigerant. No dyes, no oil charge, no sealers, no “freeze dried fairie food for extra cooling”.

Yeah I ordered a new condenser, variable orifice tube and a standard fixed one. I haven't been eating compressors so to say more just the clutch bearing. Last one I tried to just replace the clutch bearing but on my 2 practice compressors I tried the tool on didn't have a nut holding the pulley on, so I didn't even think to look to see if the one on the burb did, and it did, and it cracked the nose/ hub where the snap ring sits..... idiot! Speaking of idiot, when I'm done vacuuming the system and seeing if it'll hold the vac, do I turn the valves off or leave them on, on the manifold? I thought I needed to leave them on. Maybe that's my problem? I literally replaced everything ac related on my 94 k3500 and lubed all the orings in pag150 and leaving the gauges on it for over an hour my vacuum will fall from around 26 to around 20. But that's with my valves open on my gage set. Is that right?

I try to run the vacuum pump for at least an hour, THEN shut the valves and let it sit. By shutting the valves, you’re isolating the gauges from the vacuum pump. The vacuum pump won’t be “sealed” when it’s not running, that could be where your pressure differential is coming from.

It was black gunk. I'd love to replace everything in this suburban system but I don't really enjoy pulling the dash. That makes sense with the gauges. Wonder how I started thinking that backwards lol

So no one has real world experience with a Ford or variable orifice tube with rear air then?

I'm considering a ferd one also. I have read they work great in a rear ac suburban.

Black gunk is usually aluminum shavings mixed with oil.

Looks like you're looking at a system flush and some new parts....I'd say your compressor self destructed.
