Back with a progress report.

Yanked the 4.3 and junkyard trans out:

And cleaned up the engine bay a little while I was in there:

I ended up grinding the bolts off of the passenger side motor mount bracket since most of them were impossible to reach and I had enough bolts for both of the new motor mounts already.

Then of course came the new engine/trans:

The long tube Hedman headers that came with the motor didn’t fit. So I ordered some shorty headers from summit so I could run the stock Y pipe for now. I plan on getting a better Y pipe from summit and a better muffler in the future.

Also got the fuel pressure regulator installed, loosely for now, until I can start making everything look pretty.

Also found some shady looking wiring whilst I was peeling back the loom

Pretty sure that ain’t factory work right there. At least in the second picture the connection was wrapped in duct tape! So there was an attempt at least to make it look nice.

While at the bone yard getting a fan shroud and fan for a V8, I snagged a trans cooler off an F-150 and slapped it on as only a brilliant redneck engineer could:

Maybe not the best way to do it, but oh well. If it sucks badly enough I’ll change it lol.

Once I got all the hoses that could possibly shoot hot/flammable fluids onto everything that I know and love I could start it for the first time!
I’m new so if someone could learn me how to upload a video, I’d be grateful.

In order for it to drive without the transmission trying to kill itself I had to install a TPS. Per the suggestion of a fellow gmt400 member, I purchased one from U.S shift for an Edelbrock carburetor.

With that, the exhaust attached and a leak from the back of the slip yoke fixed and coolant administered, it was time to drive it for the first time in forever. I’ll get a video of that up as soon as I can.

Been awhile since I last updated. Basically I’ve put “new” wheels and tires from the wrench-a-part, LED headlights and an “exhaust”.
