93 k1500.. about to pull the plug and ditch the column shift for a floor shifter. I have been talking to Kenny; and doing one similar to his… but..

On the steering column is where my gear selector bolts up at. I dont have a steering cable. Does that mean i have a 700r4?

Or is lokar my only option ? I was looking at the B&M uniMatic. Or do i need to get the b&m unimatic then buy the 4l60e adapter?

Universal shifters have a cable that runs from the shifter directly to the transmission. You bypass everything in the column. You would need the adapter for the cable at the transmission end. 93 was supposedly a transition year for 700r4/4l60e but 93's that I have my hands into were 4l60e if it makes a difference with the bracket required.

Yes, 93 should be a 4L60E. I had a 93 WT and that's what It had a 4L60E. I couldn't remember, if there was linkage to shift the trans, or if it was a cable, but that really doesn't matter. This only means you have to drill a hole in the transmission tunnel, and use an adapter that bolts to the transmission shift lever, or it replaced the OE leaver, with one that takes the cable. That will be with the shifter kit.

The reverse lights are activated by a switch at the end of the column; in a sense it's a steering column position sensor. If you disconnect the linkage, you lose reverse lights, you also lose park/neutral position for starting the engine.
If you're gonna go full floor shift, you need to extend the wires to the shifter.
Or remove the auto shifter arm from the column and try to leave the linkage. That way you dont need to hack any factory wiring.

You can put any shifter you want to in the truck. If it was me, I think I would surch the junk yard for a 96 plus truck, and get your cable and linkage from that. I used this as a pattern to make my shifter from. I used the little fork like clip 9ff of the steering column from a truck @ pull a part. And I also took the little ball that the cable secures to and welded that to the side of the shifter so I had the correct piece for the cable to latch onto. I would gett all of that, and the cable, along with all of the linkage on the trans too. The first pic is mine, installed, the second pic, is what I made mine look like before I installed it.

Thanks, 1970 Chevelle SS, is what I made it look like. I have parked rite next to one, and there is almost no difference. It came out nice when you consider that I built everything from scratch except the handle itself. Here are some more pics.

Kennys truck makes alot of guys moist whether they want to admit it or not.. lol
Hey man, 3ed place at the car show last weekend. There were about 200 vehicles there. There were 6 catagories, with 1st 2ed and 3ed in each. Each category was 20 year increments, except the first one, and that one was from 1900 to 1946. 46 to 56, 56 to 76, 76 to 86, 86 to 2006, and 2006 to new. My score was a 38. A perfect score was 50, but no one got over 45. One of the judges said, 38 is a very high score. There were vehicles that didn't even get 20, and that there were vehicles that should have won a trophy, that didn't win anything. To bad you could make that show, it was big and a nice show.
