I bought this truck off craigslist a couple weeks ago knowing it was in very poor mechanical condition.

Pulled the engine first,because it looked like it was leaking oil from EVERYWHERE......It had been rebuilt before it made it's way to the ghetto.I could tell because somebody must have loved this truck at some point in time because They had replaced the pistons with some higher compression pistons.

Found the oil leak...at least one of them...

Crankshaft was .030 under so looks like a complete overhaul is in order.
New crankshaft
new connecting rods
new pistons .040
balanced
Bored and honed block to 4.290
new cam bearings
new .475-.500 lift towing camshaft
Switched out the peanut port heads for a set of 1970 427 marine heads with the large oval ports and 110cc chambers.
Heads cut .015 to get the compression up to to 9.5:1.
New stainless steel valves
new springs,retainers,locks....
New dual plane intake and edelbrock 750.
New water pump.
New starter.
New flex plate.
All new hoses.
New radiator.

Yes,I'm ditching the TBI because I'm going to install a stand alone FI unit down the road.

While waiting on the machine shop I have been rebuilding the front end.
New...
lower control arms
new upper ball joints
new pitman arm
new idler arm
service hubs
new brake hoses.
New shocks front and rear.

Fired it up today,sounds great with the Gibson single 3in exhaust.my 4 in air filter wont clear the hood....need a drop base.

Could not get new a/c suction-discharge hoses so I welded some an fitting on the tubes and had custom hoses made.Put about 50 miles on it,runs great,already got my eye on a 4l80E trans...
