I know this is an older post but I have a 16156555 and I cannot find the correct wiring diagram to test the deck. All the wiring diagrams I've found are incorrect. Any help would be appreciated

I have an 89 Cheyenne. Does anyone know the correct part number for the setup with just the am/fm stereo near the instrument cluster? My truck has the storage compartment in the center dash, no eq or cassette player.

89 is tough year to match the dash, since it has black buttons with the standard grey face of later years (1 yr only). I assume it is the same setup as the non-eq deck just without the tape player. Any 88-94 setup can be used, but you would need to get a tuner that has bass/treble on it in order to be able to adjust it.

Thank, that points me in the right direction. Did all trucks 88-94 have a CDM, even ones without cassette or EQ?

Is this the correct routing for the belt?

I put a tape in there and just got clicking, and it wouldn't eject. Now, messing around with it by hand, it seems the belt tension is not enough to drive the eject mechanism.

Yes it's the correct routing. The belt tightness is a common problem on these decks due to their age. Also the factory grease in use on the gears and bushings will have hardened and makes the mechanisms that much harder to turn.

Did anyone ever scope the Data line to see what is the protocol that the CDM talk to the head and the EQ. Is it just a multiplex circuit? im restoring my 88 and im intrested in modding my factory 93 5band setup. The ideal would be to have the head buttons control the Bluetooth board.

I would if I had a clue where to start with that sort of thing lol. Maybe I could get something out to an Arduino and control my Alpine deck with the factory unit, wouldn't that be something?

Well that's the Ideal, You could program a Arduino translate the Head unti button inputs to control a say a ebay CSR8645 BT/Hands free setup . with the end result being a sleek OEM looking system with BT and Hands free calling . Once im back into it , I will check it out , I just don't have a scope to check the Data wire signal . My programming skill are pretty limited so would be a cool project to learn on. Right now My priority is trying to find a good Grey Dash lol . Truck Has been in storage for 17 years

I have done BT audio only to My 2000 K2500 CCSB, And it works great . But if this works out , I will be upgrading the Crew Cab also.
