8.1 Converstion

I personally like a little gas milage although smiles per gallon are great 6.0>8.1 infront of my nv4500 possibly with a stroker kit ... the more I read the more I fall Inlove with the 6.0.

Driving both on a regular basis 8.1>6.0 but to each their own. Both are cammed and both make about 450 hp. The 8.1 does it with stock heads, stock GM cam and does not have to rev over 5,200 rpm to make peak HP. The 8.1 also makes about 550 TQ @ 4,000 and over 400 TQ off-idle something a NA 6.0L never will do! Similar fuel mileage as well. Unloaded in my 99 Tahoe the 8.1 will climb moutains at 100 mph in lean cruise.

There is an '05 Avalanche 2500 at a dealership close to me. It has the 8.1, 123,000 miles. If I would have seen that before I started building my '99, it would be in my yard.
