Hey guys! New here to the group, but I have a quick question for y’all. I have a 97 c1500 with the factory rear step bumper still on the truck (pictured). I would love to put a 67-72 or 73-87 suburban rear bumper on the truck. The reasoning behind this is because I don’t like the step bumper, and I don’t like Roll pans. So, I’m curious if any of y’all have done this, and if so pictures and all of the info I could be would be AWESOME! I have searched for several days with no lucks of finding anybody else that has done it. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Some of the 1988 trucks had that style of number, when new. You may be able to find a replacement for an 88 that would bolt rite on. You may have to fab up some custom brackets that fit the frame of you truck. GMT400 truck bumpers, are not bolted in the same way as the square body style truck bumpers are. A pic of exactly what your looking for, would be a big help.

I have a couple of the later style square body Burb bumpers, I just gotta dig them out in the shop (you know how heavy/bulky things always end up on the bottom of the pile....) I'm trying to schedule some shop time this weekend, if I can get one out, I'll put it under the back of the crew cab and see what it looks like. Brackets and such too, I think at least one of those bumpers has brackets on it. And I know those are different from the pickup square body bumper and brackets.
Too bad you're a couple of states away, those bumpers are for sale as soon as I get them out....

If you want something bad enough, you find a way. That's how I built my custom 1970 Chevelle SS floor shifter in my 97 Silverado. The back section is out of a 2004 Tahoe. The bucket seats, are from a 95 Tahoe.

Center console looks great. Can you post a picture of your 67-72 gmt400 bumper swap?
