5.7 vortec smokes like a diesel at start

About that 96 c1500 that I have, every time I start it it shoots black smoke

What do y'all think the problem is?

Hey Demetrio,

If it only smokes when its first started for a bit, my bet would be the valve seals are worn out. This thing has almost 300k miles right?

Valve seals. I bet it also puts out a cloud when you take off after you sit at a stop sign/light for a bit. I switched to heavier weight oil and it helps.

I use 10w 40 high mileage oil
