Looking for some help /feedback on aftermarket 4l60e solenoid kits.

Truck is 1994 K1500 4WD with 224k miles

I have a long standing issue with engine idle and irregular gear shift.

Im pretty sure I've traced the problems to the TCC solenoid. Not an expensive part, but if im going to the trouble of changing that item, might as well change all 7 valves right?

Question to you guys is are the aftermarket kits fit for purpose

The price difference between an aftermarket kit at around $100 and buying original parts is over $600 for the same 9 items required.

I have done plenty of repairs on my truck with aftermarket components, like brake rotor, drums, radiator, wiper motor etc, but somehow Im having second thoughts about these transmission parts.

What do you think?

For sake of cost i'd just do a tcc solenoid. Unfortunately you have to cut it out and splice in a new one but its probably not too bad. I would not touch any of the valves, especially since yours is a 94 so you don't have pwm tcc which is a common source of issues.

What are your reasonings for the tcc solenoid. Do you think its engaging at idle? Or do you have erratic locking/unlocking while driving?

Just recently every time I would go to hit the brakes my truck would stall. One thing I looked all into was the T CC solenoid. I don't know if that is the solenoid that you are looking for. So TCC solenoid I believe if bad will stop your trucks torque converter from disengaging from the motor. Causing a stall when you would hit the brakes. I troubleshot this by shifting into neutral. The truck's still died I cleaned thr idler air control valve and ended up changing the brake booster to fix the problem.

Now I ended up buying the thing because I found it on RockAuto but I looked all into what a TCC solenoid is and it is not listed under any specific vehicle. Now if you go to buy it I think that you have to have a part number when you search for it or go to parts that fit multiple vehicles on RockAuto. I think that they are two or three solenoids that are easy to change once you open the pan.

When I was looking into aftermarket valves I think that you have to bore out the chamber so I don't know if aftermarket is what you want to do because they are too big to fit in the factory holes so you have to bore out the chambers or something.

I got into an argument I know an old man here in town at a transmission shop so I don't know if what I am telling you is all the way true I was going to go talk to him but I kind of knew what I was experiencing was not caused by the TCC solenoid.

You can clean a couple things you're idle air control valve. And your throttle body change your throttle position sensor and then.... With the set I don't know what you have done already.... Drain the memory from the computer leave your battery unplugged for a long time to drain all residual energy because then you will clear the shift codes or the shift knowledge from your computer. So you train your transmission when to shift kind of.

The symptoms are as follows:

Cold start, engine idle held high around 1300rpm. Engine up to temp idle drops to around 800rpm. Shift to drive, no problem. Drive away no problem accelerate through gears no problem. Approach a junction, engine starts to run rough off throttle. Pull to a halt, idle very erratic (but never stalls) with foot on brake pedal can feel transmission dragging. Foot off brake, accelerate engine runs perfect transmission runs through changes of gear without issue. Next junction same again.

Sometimes when decelerating from freeway speed a difference can be felt in the engine, it feels like the transmission is not shifting down through gears and is dragging.

I have changed every sensor on the engine, water temp, oil pressure, throttle body sensor. Changed plugs, leads and distributor cap. Oxygen sensor.

Very perplexed, then I read an article on this forum talking about the symptoms of faulty TCC, and it describes exactly what I have.

The money spent so far on parts is way beyond the cost of the replacement TCC valve, but if that cures it then ill take the win.

Question really is which kitty buy, or don't buy kit just buy the TCC

Are you sure there is no PWM valve in the 94 4l60e?
All the kits I've seen include one.

I have done all the engine and throttle related replacements, im already deep into replacement parts for no reason (although on this truck they were all original so most likely due for replacement)

Yep 100%. 93/94 do not have pwm tcc lockup. It is on off. 95 started pwm.
So I guess the kits include all parts associated with 4l60e through the years. The kit is looked at with 9 pieces has 7 valves a gasket and a new filter.

Looks like the TCC comes attached to a new wiring harness

Link the kit. And yes the harness will likely be a rostra one which is 93-02. They include caps for unused connectors and 2 options for the 3-2 solenoid depending if you have the first or second design.
