Im still kinda new to rebuilding trans but I love the 4l60e everyone hates them but ive built a few already that in my mind would make a stock 4l80e cry Thats the biggest reason im a avid 4l60e man is just to make a statement and to prove how good a 4l60e can be built these days

Hello, my name is Keith and I have a potentially dumb question. If it is feel free to roast me as you see fit. LOL

I have a 95 K1500(I know it's the ******* year, wish I had been aware before I purchased it) Anyway, all the locking tabs that hold the main plug for the internal wiring harness into the case and sealing it have broken off. This causes the plug to recess into the case which results in massive fluid loss. I was offered the wiring harness from my buddies old 2007 4L60E. My question is would that work in my truck? There is an extra plug on it for something that I'm not sure of what it is and there's two extra pins in the main plug. I was just wondering if since my truck didn't require whatever that plugs into if my computer would just only read the data it needed from the harness? If I have to I'll just buy a new harness but if I can save 60 bucks I wouldn't mind doing that. LOL thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Hi Keith, just buy the correct Rostra brand harness for your 1995...The harness will work for all 1993-2002 4L60Es...Saving S60.00 dollars on a used harness isn't worth it given it's used and will more likely than not fail at some point soon, putting you into limp mode where you only have 3rd and Reverse, meaning you'd be spending the money anyway to replace it plus the cost to have your truck towed back to your house...

I'd also replace all of your solenoids and pressure switch manifold assembly while you have the pan off and doing the harness...You won't need to drop the valve body to replace any of those components.

Is there any recommended service schedule for solenoids or if no issues leave them? I’m not having any, just wondering if it’s a good idea to stay ahead of it.

I'd replace them every 60-100k or so, depending on application, use intensity, exposure to more extreme conditions and so forth.

92k, it lives in the north east, cold but not extreme. Fluid and filter are new. Maybe next filter do solenoids.
Anything else?
