I am getting ready do the 350 engine in my 1990 3/4 ton.I have a 50,000 mile 454 and a 180,000 mile 6.0 which would be a better swap for everyday use and pulling a 5th wheel camper.

Personally, I'd take the lq9/lq4 option over the 454 in a heartbeat, even given the mileage. You'll see better MPG, more power, and only a marginal loss of torque, plus an endless list of upgrades and options. The 454 does have more grunt but not by much, that's the only thing the 454 has on the 6.0 IMO.

you will be driving without the trailer most of the time I assume so I would go with the LS motor.

This is what I was going to suggest too, if the trailer isn't super heavy.. if you're towing a lot the 454 will do better, in my opinion anyway. If you're willing to mod while the engine is out, the 454 will definitely do better for towing. Empty mileage will be worse for the 454, towing mileage will probably be similar for the two.

Something to consider is that, if the truck doesn't stand a chance at holding OD, the 6.0 becomes more appealing. Except for getting off the line. If there's no way around revving the engine to the moon, then the 6.0 will probably win. I'd just add torque until downshifting is less of a concern.
