4.88s or 5.13s, what would you run?

I just got my lift finished up. Running a 6" RCX and a 3" BL on 37" tires. Going to regear next month.

I do mostly highway driving 70%, 25% city and maybe get off road once in a great while. I'd also like to have a
decent tow capability if the need came up.

Truck is a 1990 RCSB K1500. 5-speed, 350TBI with 140K on it. Stock 3.42s, which obviously suck with 37"s

Well i have 4.56's and I've ran them with 33's, 35's and 37's. But I have an auto. If you do mostly interstate driving i think 4.56's would be best. Unless you really just want more low end power. I guess I depends if you really care about fuel mileage also.

Truck looks good btw!!!

well it all depends on what your doing with it, but if you want decent interstate rpms then definitely stay away from 5.13's. i wish i had 5.13's with my 35's but my truck stays in the mud… lol

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm leaning towards the 4.56s.

We put 4.88's in a 94 with 37's and it drove like stock 3.73's & 31's on the hwy

I'd go 5:13, that's a lot of weight to turn with a tbi 350. Have you run an rpm calculator to see where you want it to be? I have 4:88 in my 02 6.0 liter w/37's and wish I'd gone 5:13 for a little more grunt towing and all around fun to driveness (that's a word right? haha)

I knew I saw that graph somewhere. Lost it in the mix though. Thanks for digging that up.
