My experience so far, the front diff is a little trickier to find 4.56. Only time Ive ever used 4 wheel in this truck has been due to bad roads. In other words I don't use it much, I'm not worried about gearing at the same time. I'll pull the fuse for 4x4 until I get it geared properly.

I did the towing in 3rd gig for a while in my 97 Express. Then went from 3.73s to 5.13s with the old 350 when I had the 9.5SF in it. Most of my driving was around town or with a trailer on the road. Having deeper gears gives much better acceleration loaded and around town and actually saved fuel compared to using 3rd. You are able to make use of all 4 gears rather than 3 and relying on the converter to help mask the lack of torque multiplication.
