    I run a 383HT factory crate in a 99 2 door Tahoe.
I still occasionally smile when I hit the loud pedal..

Watch that. They said its max power was 350 or so and it’s under 4k$ may be a little over but I’m pretty sure you can miss a part or so

Go with a carbed ls, and get a tuned pcm from lextech to control and tune your transmission, you can use same water hoses, powereteering pump line, alot of things will work. You can do the ls swap under 3k if you do your homework and if you do everything yourself.

I just finished a project similar to what you are planning.
I began with a '95' 3500 dually, 454TBI, 480Le, 4.10. I kept the original heads but added a Speedmaster Midrise dual-plane intake, Summit K1300 cam & lifters, summit true-roller timing chain, 190deg. thermostat, a Holly TBI adapter plate, 1-3/4" long-tube headers and a 3" Flowmaster exhaust. I left the Throttle-body stock for now, but plan to send it to be modified to flow @700cfm.
As it now stands, the package is putting 308hp @ 4200rpm and 408lbs. @ 2200rpm to the rear wheels. So allowing for parasitic drive-line loss of @ 20%, that results in roughly 370hp and 490lb. So far I have spent just under $1500 and expect to spend another $500-600 on the throttlebody, chip, and extras. The drive-ability is good but I suspect it could running a little lean at times and could use another 5-8lbs. of fuel pressure.
    Good luck on your project!
