I had a 2005 gmc 3500 truck with no ignition key, to remove the cylinder from the aluminum housing, l did the push the pins thing, and then the spring loaded retainer to get the cylinder to drop. I then used a sawsall to cut the cylinder, staying away from the pins. When only a strip of metal was left, I broke the key turn support tabs off with channel locks. After that was done, I pried out the stop bar, rotated the cylinder and pushed it out of the aluminum housing. I will be removing the small tab (shown against the orange) on the new cylinder prior to installation to eliminate this OPP stupidity. Hopes this helps others, because its a whole lot better than pulling the cylinder with drills, screws, and a slide hammer.
