I am attempting to replace the bushings in my control arms on my truck. I have the rubber bushings for the forged lower A arms. When pushing them it they begin to squish when they are like 90% in. Do you just stop pushing and let them rest for a min so they can expand into the arm? Do you have any tips for doing this?

@Schurkey is the man for this.
But id ask for PICTURES lol seriously tho. Pictures help alot.

Is it at its final seating depth?
90% seating depth? You're using a press?

If it was me, using a press, id make sure my backstop im pressing into is keeping the arm from distorting.
Id also measure the outter circumstances of the replacements to insure the part is close to the original.

Having just done my 2wd, doing it again, id be using a poly kit, reusing the stock (already pressed) shells.

To answer your question: yes id keep pressing, IF i was 100% certain the shell was very close to the oe shell i already pressed out. Also, id use some "EP" aka extreme pressure grease on the shell to be pressed.

I got them pressed in. Used some silicone lubricant and kept pushing. The people helping me out were nervous when the rubber bushings were bulging at like 99% of the way.
