I have a RAM mount for mounting a tablet. I want to screw it onto my transmission tunnel but I don't want to screw it into my transmission or anything that matters. I need advice on if it's a good idea and how to do it if it is OK.

Is mounting it to one of the seat track bolts not going to work?
I think if you mount to the tunnel you'll have to through bolt it so it is sturdy enough.

I looked at the seat track and it seemed tucked way back. I will look again.

I saw someone mounted a bracket in the center console. Are there robust mounts in there?

I think it is meant to go to the front bolt on the seat track, either side of the tunnel. Long time ago I ordered a Ram mount for my Tahoe for a laptop.
They said the mount was specifically designed for my year Tahoe. Didn't even come close to fitting. Despite pictures and videos Ram refused to refund it.

I looked at the seat bolt again. It might work if the aluminum rod is long enough to get the tablet to a good spot.

If not maybe you can fabricate something to go to the seat bolt and then allow to bolt the mount a little higher.
