JET’s Dynamic Spectum Tuner claims to accommodate ECUs from 1996.

@df2x4 may have some knowledge of this.

I’ve used JET’s tuner, albeit on a 1998.
Yes, it will work on our trucks from 96 up. I have the handheld version. Works good on my 97, 5.7L Vortec. I wish I had gotten the CD, laptop version instead though. The handheld version is limited, as to what you can do. The laptop version, is not. Also the handheld version, is locked to what ever truck, you use it on. To use it on another vehicle, you have to set the tune back to factory settings, to unlock it, so it can be used on another vehicle. The laptop version, may come with up to 4 vehicles that you can tune with it, but you need to look at that, to be sure

I know I need to buy a copy.

But yes, according to JET DST's supported vehicle list on part number 14005, it's compatible with any of the PCMs in these trucks from '96 on up. They also have part number 14007 which does 2006-2019 vehicles, so you need to make sure you get the correct one.

According to their website you get four licenses (or vehicle types) with the purchase of DST. Additional licenses are $100 each.

Well I give it a good bath and put my old cowl hood on it and mirrors from my other old 96. Even changed the tail lights hoping they would work. Which they seem to. I’ve noticed sometimes the turn single will blink really fast and looks like both tail lights will flash when it does that. When it blinks normal speed the tail lights work correctly. Also speedometer don’t work. Thought it might be unplugged. Got up under it and looked and the sensor was plugged in. So I don’t know. Could just be bad maybe. Thanks for all the help and replies.

Check your bulbs. You might have a filament loose, laying over onto the brake filament.
