1995 Sierra np241 extra spring

I removed the front output seal to replace and when I got it out I found a loose spring inside. Any idea where this goes? I’ve searched all over the webs and I can’t find anything that would make sense for where I found it. Thanks in advance!

Where is the seal that you removed? Are you very sure that that spring is not from the seal that you removed?

I never thought of that as an option honestly, this was THE hardest seal I’ve ever removed so it came out it pieces. I’ll have a look tomorrow and see. Is that common to have a spring in these?

That's definitely the seal spring. All the lip seals have them.
