Went and picked the truck up from the Estate where the auction occurred, today. I never had a chance to preview it, so I bought it sight unseen, aside from pictures. The truck tuned out to be just as nice as the pictures.

It's crazy this thing still has intact rockers on it, out here... Rockers usually last 4-5 years on trucks.

Frame is CLEAN as well.

Also, surprise surprise, it's a 7.4 truck, not a 5.7 as listed.

Does it have a ventilated block or can you rebuild it?

It's got a ventilated block now.

Test drove it to verify transmission operation. Babied it, piston scattered.

Sweet. Just know the GenV 454 was a turd prone to overheating and underperforming. I'm not sure what caused the overheating, but I will say that my GenVI 454 has been very tolerant of the loads I've put behind it. I would try to snag some GenVI heads and a different intake for that thing if you can.

Amazing deal .... congrats! It really looks clean and straight.

I love my TBI 454. Granted, it's no powerhouse ... but it pulls my lightweight 2300 lb rallycar just fine.
I like the simplicity of it.

There are some upgrades and mods you can perform on the 454 to get near 500 lb-ft of torque ..... but for the money, I'll just keep mine stock until it needs pulled.

Okay. So short update in a coronavirus world..

Finally starting to have the time to mess with this truck.

Snagged a 120,000 mile LS for $200, today. Decided to go ahead and order everything to do the swap too.

Hopefully get started on it, soon. Should make an awesome daily driver. I plan to keep this one damn near stock. Even use exhaust manifolds.
