Started off today with prepping the new headlights and LED bulbs.

LED bulbs installed

Headlights installed on the truck!

This is why I love the fanless LEDs so much. Plenty of clearance to overcome GM’s fetish for pinning housings right against the core support.

Final prep on the new grille. Lower valence installed, as well as the sport emblem.

Grille installed on the truck! Had to massage the fit because chineseium grille, but it did end up fitting pretty decent. I would definitely go with LMC if I had to do it again.

Turn signal lights installed!

Front end is complete!

Unfortunately, not much left out there that isn’t Chineseium.

Speaking of Chineseium…I bought a new radiator, only to have it be ‘universal’. It included a reducer bushing for the inlet, the plastic was insanely cheap, and I didn’t trust that setup. Usually Napa is pretty good, but I found a much better quality radiator at Oreillys, and installed along with the new lower fan shroud. I also bought a new upper shroud, but it arrived in pieces. Thanks for that too, Napa.

While I was under the hood, I adjusted the steering box as it had some play.

Although most of the play turned out to be in the rag joint, so the U-joint shaft went on in!

Close to done on the engine bay! I still might replace the upper fan shroud, and I need to find an intake resonator and cover for the fusible links.

I spent some time behind the engine for once, lol. Straightened out the wrinkle in the driver’s door the best I could, and it turned out better than I thought it would!

Alright, so we’re finally getting some decently warmer weather! It’s been about 50 during the days now, so I figured it was finally time to put the decals on. I’m glad I went with the custom color, I think it fits the truck a lot better than the stock silver.

And finally, the part of this project I’ve been dying to get done - got the tire mounted and balanced yesterday! Damn, these look so good! I can‘t wait to get them mounted on the truck!

I started on the doors last night too. The passenger window has never worked, the door panels aren‘t secure, and the mirrors needed to be installed.

Mirrors first, because that’s the fun part.

The fit is actually surprisingly good. I’m very happy with it.

Only nitpick would be the top corner does stick out just a hair, but not too noticeable. Would probably be fixable with a dremel or heat gun.

Diagnosed the window problem, turned out to just be a bad switch on the passenger side. I had a spare and threw it in.

Worked on the door panels themselves. The fabric was starting to peel and hang down, so I stripped and re-glued the fabric to the panel.

Did the same with the driver’s side.

Fun stuff!

So this is how today started.

You must be registered for see images attach

Gutted and removed the driver’s door as it needs a ton of work.

You must be registered for see images attach

I don’t know how this happened, but the lower hinge was pretty bent, and actually torn at the bushing hole.

You must be registered for see images attach

Straightened, welded, and hole resized.

You must be registered for see images attach

I also welded a crack on the upper portion of the door.

You must be registered for see images attach

The roller pin assembly was missing completely, so I picked up a new one.

You must be registered for see images attach

Glass and inner panel done!

You must be registered for see images attach

Door panel back in place!

You must be registered for see images attach

I also installed the sport mirror on this side as well.

You must be registered for see images attach

Next up, the multifunction switch!

You must be registered for see images attach

Removing the lock.

You must be registered for see images attach

Old garbage. Not a single function worked properly!

You must be registered for see images attach

New switch in!

You must be registered for see images attach

Everything back together.

You must be registered for see images attach

Finally got a chance to better clean the interior. Far from perfect, but still pretty good for pushing 300,000!

This is where I’m at so far!

Thanks!

So this thing has always had a slow fuel leak from the tank over half full. I knew it had been patched over, but it looked like a terrible job. So I figured I’d do a slightly less terrible job and started by scraping away the old epoxy, only to find…bullet holes. My fuel tank has ****** bullet holes in it!

You must be registered for see images attach

Since there‘s no new tanks in stock, I’m just patching it for now. Installed some plastic plugs.

Good enough for the girls I go out with.

You must be registered for see images attach

Taking care of all the underneath stuff, next up was the leaky trans output seal.

You must be registered for see images attach

New seal installed!

You must be registered for see images attach

Next in line, lowering shackles! Rear ones coming off.

You must be registered for see images attach

You must be registered for see images attach

New McGaughys 2” lowering shackles.

You must be registered for see images attach

New shackles installed!

You must be registered for see images attach

The truck sits much better now that it doesn’t sit like a cat in heat!

Last in line for today, changing out this beat rear bumper.
