I wouldn't be too concerned with the performance yet.
Imagine this:.
The box is removed and you're cruising at 65 miles per hour.
Two fat chicks, weighing 500 pounds each, parachute onto your frame, simulating the weight of the box.
Then they secure and deploy an eight by twelve foot parachute.
This is where you're at now.
Lose the weight and wind resistance and you may be presently surprised.
Of course your rear end ratio will also come into play.

Neat truck.
That’s a good simulation. I’ve got too many women in my life as it is....Don’t need two more! I made the decision today that I’m chopping the box and leaving the decking. I’m friends with a structural welder and we’ll be shortening the frame back to stock. That ought to make it grow a pair with all that weight gone.

What do y’all think about this driveshaft? It appears to me that they put an extension off the rear U joint going to the diff. I think the frame can welded back and if our measurements are correct, secure the driveshaft. Does this appear true or will I need a new driveshaft?

Before you do too much, I' ll offer you $800 for it.
That's a 33% profit.
GUARANTEED PROFIT!
How can you go wrong?
You have no idea how many people in my family would take you up on that offer! They better not get ahold of my login to this forum or I might be down one truck! But being the only male in the family and 19, they don’t understand that it has value and lots of potential.

My older brother has a saying,

THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH FAMILYS IS THE PEOPLE IN THEM.

I recently retired after 42 years as an OTR trucker.
My goal upon retirement was to find a nice 66 Chevy PU.
I have a fantastic wife who couldn't understand why I had to spend over $500 on a truck " I DONT NEED."

Other than this she's fantastic.

Come on down to Alabama to find you a truck. We’re pretty good on rust. I’ve still got solid rockers and cab corners on my Dodge and Chevy.
