I have done it with a manual. no issues with tuning or anything, its just that manual trucks are more rare so naturally a lower percentage of the swaps will be manuals statistically speaking.

Mine's a manual with the 5.7, it absolutely was worthwhile for me. I set mine up to control electric fans right off the bat, then started tuning. Given that yours is a 98, HPTuners actually supports your PCM, but the 0411 has many more things to mess with in tuning. I did the swap in a little under an hour, granted my PCM was pre-tuned (basic) for this truck when I got it. The only one problem is, if you're used to seeing the shift indicator light, forget it because the 0411 won't run it directly. That's it. I wouldn't go back to the stock PCM for anything now.

So I joined 0411 club last night after months of not getting around to it for various reasons. I was having a low/rough idle at cold start that seemed like the motor was flooding and not so great throttle response. It would occasionally stall at idle as well during cold start. My truck has an L31 with a ZZ4 cam and a black bear tune that was converted to 0411.

The idle, after 2 cold starts, is 2/3 better and I don't it's going to stall anymore. However two problems:

I am getting a P300 misfire code and a blinking CEL at cold start 2/2.

I have no gear position indicator light in the forward gears. It vanishes when I put it in drive,3,2,1.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
