Here is some trailering capacity info on pre-1996 C/K pickups:

Have you checked codes by just shorting out the correct pins on the obd1 connector? I don't know the exact symptoms on the 4l80e equipped mechanical diesels, but there is a chance you have a bad engine speed sensor. It caused all sorts of whacky stuff on my 93. Mine gave a code that I could only...
to be honest, I recommend NOT turboing it. if it's an automatic the 4l60e probably won't hold boost very well. I'd replace the harmonic balancer and crank pulley as they are known failure points, and maybe oil cooler lines if they are leaking.
There is a little performance to be had with the...
Based on the VIN it's a regular cab, not sure how many miles are on it but 2500 may be a little steep dependent upon condition. If you're looking to build power you'd just need the turbo manifold, turbo, and intake or intake hat, and a tune. But in stock form they really aren't as gutless as...
I stated a google search could've prevented that. The only thing implied was that you did not use google, not that you could not.
Bro it's not that serious. You were wrong, it's alright. happens to the best of us.
doesn't mean they didn't exist, so some previous statements made in this thread are incorrect. My intention was not to call anyone out on doing this intentionally, but rather to make sure there was a delineation between speculation and fact.
All of this is not true or at least speculative...
That is very obviously a factory non-turbo 6.5, which was available until 1995. still has the factory electronic injection pump that came on all 94+ trucks, N/A or not. A simple google search could have prevented so much misinformation from being spewed in this thread.
That being said, the N/A...
Perhaps I worded it strange, but I was eluding to the V6 converter being more enjoyable to drive due to the higher stall in any combo. I've even put an I6 converter behind an LQ9, it's always more fun (imo)
It gets a bit muddiier post gmt400 while and this is kinda off topic: but at some point...
The Trans will not be "upgraded" in any form over a 1998 4l60E that would be missing the upper hole. it will still have the 298mm input shaft. From my understanding the 5.3/4.8 trucks got an additional clutch in the 3/4 clutch pack, while all of the "gen 2" engines (4.3, 5.0, 5.7) never did...
Really curious about the performance of the Ranger ATR's. I have Thunderer Trac Grip MT's on my 93 and they're probably the best snow/ice tire i've ever experienced.
That bolt you circled holds on the trans dust shield, once you remove that you can see the torque converter and flexplate. The leak could be the trans input seal if it's trans fluid, or the rear main seal if it's oil. 6.5's also have a drain in the valley of the engine that goes into the...
This is not true. 03+ are a little larger than a double din. 99-02 are 1.5 and use the same mounting as 95+ GMT400's.
http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/RB1install.html Chrysler parts, but super clean install IMO. However double din kits are readily available for 95+ and are much more...
Removing a radiator hose is the only way to drain coolant on a 6.2/6.5. There are drain plugs in the block, but they are behind the motor mounts so they are basically useless.
"Bob" the 97 K1500 6.5 diesel is still the highest I've seen. On a 6.5 page on facebook an older farmer posted his 93 with 900k some odd miles, all original too, but this tops it.

Thankyou kindly for you're telephone call and the interest you...
Likely LS1 Heads on a 5.3 LM7, not the gen 2 350 vortec. Without different pistons this is usually a bad idea, the ls1/ls6 heads flow better but the chamber is larger and results in lower compression, enough that it will make less power than the factory 706/862 heads, I'd be willing to bet that...
AC not blowing cold at idle usually means there is insufficient airflow over the condenser. Make sure your condenser along with your entire cooling stack is CLEAN, if the air can't get through the rad the fan won't suck it past the condenser. If the condenser looks rough you can buy a comb...
After owning a DS4 equipped 6.5, I wouldn't trust one as far as I could throw it. The motor itself isn't THAT bad. There are some crankshaft snapping issues and block cracking issues, both of which are likely related. They do have headgasket issues, and the cooling system is barely adequate on...
My '93 has yet to average any less than 18 MPG this summer (entirely in town) and oil changes are no more expensive than a gas powered truck, just throwing that out there as a 6.2/5 enthusiast.
I bet stock wheels will fit if you flip the upper ball joint bolts. Stock OBS wheels fit my 2002 Sierra just fine up front, didn't clear calipers in the rear. NBS trucks don't have bolt in ball joints though.
I've run quite a few valuepower (now everstart value), they're great batteries for the price and wal-mart is very good about warranty issues. I've had better luck with $50 walmart batteries than with MTP series interstate batteries.

Bolt pattern is different. If your engine has a flexplate on it already, then it already has a spacer. You could get a dished 4.8/5.3 flexplate and bolt your spacer on the back...
pull the cluster, pull the needle, plug in the cluster, turn the key on, leave the engine off, install the needle at 0. Should be very close. I'm pretty sure the PCM doesn't see oil pressure on these trucks, I know it doesn't on GMT800's.
