Is there a way to charge the front end over to slip on rotors vs having to pull the wheel bearings to change them?

    Reman alternators are JUNK!

Does NAPA sell anything to work on your truck? I've had one of their reman's with a lifetime warranty for 3 years now and it's done great. I had an issue with my connector that caused my voltage gauge to read low but that was just a bad connection that needed cleaned (about a year after replace...

Oh yeah, 298K miles on the old girl now. I always wanted a classic truck, never realized I'd be growing one myself.....

    00 CCSS K2500 "Helga"

Well the poor truck has been waiting while my wife went back to school. Now I'm trying to get it back in better shape. I replaced the rag joint in the steering shaft which really helped the way it drives. I had to ditch my 285's for some sad C rated 265's I picked up for $100 to get it...

Bad shake and 0 oil pressure at idle

My 295k mile 5.7L has almost no hot idle oil pressure on 5w30. I run 10w40 year round in it. Been rattling like a 6.5L on these single digit temperature (*F) mornings lately.

I don't know. I've not heard much about it in the past. Maybe I'll get the chance to pull the interior this summer and troubleshoot it.

Hey guys. Up to 295k miles right now. Still going pretty strong. I completely rebuilt the steering system last year, looks like I'm going to have to rebuild the steering shaft or replace it with an XJ one. Also, you guys who have stripped out a crew cab, how do the front dome light wires...

It's got fairly new lower ball joints on it. I replaced them when I bought it to pass inspection. Thanks for the idea though.

****, she's still going! Getting ready to finally rebuild the steering system after it wallowing in the road for all this time. I've sold off my K5 and been playing with my Xterra some more so that freed up some time for the truck as well. Trying to decide how to proceed with the EVO...

    L30/L31 intake possibility?

I was thinking about putting a separate block with the EGR on it off to one side then a pipe from the exhaust manifold to the block and one from the block to the intake. Something simple you could make with a drill press or even free hand it if you had to. I've got to get so much other stuff...

    L30/L31 intake possibility?

A map sensor and brake booster port are easy to add. You would probably have realestate to spare for them right on the adapter for the throttle body. The actual marine intake doesn't have provisions for EGR either and it would be simple to add to this style intake. Also, this intake is...

    Vortec Mystery Miss

Still fighting this thing.... List so far: Swap MAF from K2500 Swap EGR from K2500 TPS MAP x2 Plug wires x3 Plugs x2 CPS Valve Lash Check Distributor gear Check grounds Still getting the exact same miss. Shift solenoid turned out to be just that and it wasted the trans in November. Had it...

    L30/L31 intake possibility?

    Burnouts

I can't get my wife's 99 K1500 Suburban to do a donut in a snow covered parking lot, let alone smoke tires on dry pavement. Just too heavy.

Recommend a square body forum? (73-87)

Colorado K5 it's the beat all, end all for the square body trucks. It's $25/yr but that keeps the riff raff out and makes you a part of the family. Its known as "The Brotherhood" because of how tight knit it is and the knowledge base is incredible. You won't find trolls there or people just...

do any of the the cold air intakes work?

We went to town yesterday and on our way home I needed to buy gas so I put on torque and started monitoring IATs. A reminder here, torque deals in digital information so you don't get a true analog measurement, but evenly divided steps between readings. This is my new phone so I have not...

do any of the the cold air intakes work?

The dyno pulls are generally done with an open hood and multiple BIG fans pushing air at the front of the vehicle. There may well be some gains due to the improved intake tract but in practice, with the hood closed, the losses due to the increase in intake air temperature would easily negate...

do any of the the cold air intakes work?

For every ~7*f rise in intake temperature you loose about 1% hp. If you put in a box like an Airaid or K&N with the open element, you go from pulling cool, ambient air from the fender to the hot air off the radiator. The advantage of the Volant is their quality filters and the fact that they...

    oil question

My family has run 10w30 Havoline in the winter and 10w40 Havoline in the summer as long as I can remember and have always gotten good service out of our engines. I get it at Sam's Club by the case so price wise it it's about the same as a store brand stuff. My 00 5.7l has ~280k on it.

    12200411 PCM swap for 1996 to 2000 GMT400 trucks

The thing about grounding a bare wire vs using a switch is you have the chance to get several signals sent where most switches are designed to not "bounce" or "chatter" giving only one good signal. In industry most switch contacts are spring loaded with them making and/or breaking before the...

    4.3 swap questions

Why not sell the running 4.3l to find either a new 5.0l or help fix your existing one? The TBI 4.3l and 5.0l were only a few rated HP apart but the benefit was the 5.0l had more torque. You could take up a little on-the-side work during the time you would spend swapping mounts and finding...
