    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Well I got both knuckles on and torqued down. Then stuffed the shafts in. Had to do a ton of massaging on the caliper brackets to get them to fit against the new knuckles. Just gotta order up some rotors to install the hubs and the front is ready to go back under the truck. Ran into some...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

So got some work done. 60 is geared now. Found a small crack in one of my factory knuckles so I ordered up a set of Reids. Started piecing it all together.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Thanks man. Still making some progress. Just kinda creepin along while I wait for parts. Made a case spreader while I'm waiting on set up bearings and OX parts.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Long overdue updates. 14b is geared and under the truck. Onto the 60.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

I have to set my rad support on the front end to mock up the final winch location on the plate still. Then throwing a bunch of plate and tube at it. Overkill is the only way I do things.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

It's my buddy's place. He was nice enough to let me build here under the condition that beers are on me for the entire build. It's been an expensive deal lol.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Started putting the body mounts together but ran out of wire for the welder. So this is where I'll leave it till next week.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Well the bolts to finish my axles haven't shown up yet so I figured I'd start tackling some other things. After a lot of cutting and grinding I have these now... Which will become... Body mounts. It's all 3/16" which should suffice considering the stock mounts were 1/16". Still need to...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Thanks buddy. The build has had it's moments and set backs. I did a ton of research and spec'ed it out for exactly what I need it to do and my throttle happy, wide open driving style. It has to be able to keep up with my buddies Ultra 4 cars on most the trails around here. So it has to flex and...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Keep it low. Low COG, little lift and big tires is the goal. This set up uses more droop travel than up travel. ORD has been running this set up on their UA GMT-400 for years and it seems to work really well.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

It'll be pretty close to stock angle. That's full droop.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Well got my rear leafs in and started settin up my axles. In taking apart the 14b, all the factory lock washers on the carrier were split in multiple pieces and were floating around inside the dif. So I ordered new grade 8 bolts with serrated flanges instead. Hopefully it keeps metal chucks out...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

The frame is thin but overall she's clean. The truck was used by a Driveway sealing company, meaning she's never seen snow. Garage kept all winter, worked hard all summer. Well maintained.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

As hard as it is to believe, the 94 is a NY truck.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

You got it. Sad to see the 88 go but there wasn't much 88 left. It's had 2 frame off restos in its life and the only untouched piece is a portion of the roof and the A pillars. I can't afford to do the body a 3rd time and build a GMT-400 crawler. It's one or the other. I'd rather see the...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

What diamond plate add ons? The geriatric steps are staying! Adds a touch of class. Just kidding, 94 body will get: 1. Painted satin black 2. Get the tow mirrors, Kodiak handles, grille, and sealed beam headlights. 3. Get "minor trimming" for the 42s. 4. Get "minor trimming" for rock rails/boat...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Well the 88 finally gave up on life this morning. Time to start swapping everything over. The new DD/cab for the new frame. 94 c1500. 305, pw, pl, AC, cruise.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Well I have a huge update. The 88' is now 2wd till tons. I broke both CVs and nuked the dif. On the upside, this followed me home...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Thanks buddy. You'd prob think different if you saw it in person. She's got a lot of "character" and isn't winning any beauty pageants any time soon lol.

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

Little update... Well the Hillbilly Hotrod has logged more miles on a rollback lately than driving but SHE IS BACK, up and running like a beast. Also got some done on the new frame. It's coming but not quickly.

    DirtridinZ71 Budget SAS Build

I picked up Yukon 35 spline chromo shafts, super joints and a 14b Grizz locker for my build. Not installed yet but they are pretty beefy. I have a few buddies that run Yukon shafts, joints, lockers, etc on their Ultra 4 cars and I am impressed by what they take. Not indestructible but impressive...

    88 GMC Trail/DD Rig

I hear ya but as previously stated, I am from upstate NY where road salt makes it impossible for your truck to ever look like did rolling out of the shop. Def sucks. Stuff rusts and pits real quick up here. It helps that I never intended the truck to be a show truck. It's rough looking, body...
