Lots of guys do springs and ca's but I prefer spindles and springs. Drop spindles are made to the correct geometry when lowering your truck, don't get me wrong both ways will drop your truck I just like the latter.
It's really up to you and what you are doing with your truck. I didn't haul anything in my 88 and went with 4/6 McG's spindles and springs. Soon after driving it with factory sport wheels it wasn't low enough then bagged it.
I had tried a Helwig one when I was 4/6 and I could never get it to line up where the end links looked right. I think it would have worked if the truck wasn't lowered.
Haven't been on here in a while, so here's some latest pics of the helper bags finally getting installed. Removed the bed.
The plan was to plate the inside of the notch to strengthen the frame and to have a place to weld the bag bracket onto.
I had to cut the exhaust off the passenger side...

Tested battery and it needed to be replaced, hooked everything back up and used a voltmeter to check the alternator to make sure it was charging the battery and it read 14.65v so that is good as well. Since chasing the battery drain.
I'm having a similar problem on my 89 dually, using the test light method pulled all the fuses one by one and the test light is still bright. I disconnected the harness where it passes through the cab under the master cylinder to help me eliminate it being anything related to inside the cab and...
I haven't started yet but soon, going to take it to Ocean City next weekend and will start after that.
Welded up the roof holes from the visor the PO had installed and threw some bondo over them.
and drove it to work today in the rain but got a bonus parking spot lol!
I went through the brakes as soon as I got the truck and replaced everything, bearings, seals and pads up front and had the rotors resurfaced and the same for the rear new drums, all new brake hardware, wheel cylinders and steel brake lines and the rubber line on the rear. However I did not cut...
Alignment done last week and she's on the road, had to get the brand new drums I put on when I did the brakes over a year ago turned down. The whole truck was shaking when I applied the brakes, its all good now. Just getting used to driving it and working out a few more things. I can say I need...

Bag brackets arrived on Friday but am having trouble removing the bolts from the helper bags as they are spinning. Moved onto the cab lights and got those wired up last night.
While I wait for the bag brackets to come from AVS I laid out and drilled for the cab lights yesterday and fished the wires through. Hopefully the A pillar trim cooperates when I take it off and doesn't break when I pull it off to run the wires down. Still need to close the holes up from the...
