    Reseal/rebuild NP241C parts???

Funny update: I got the shipping notification from the jungle site today. Seal kit is arriving tomorrow. Turns out it’s being shipped by a transmission parts supplier about ten miles from my house. I hate being new to an area and not knowing what’s here. I could have had this reassembled by...

4x4 light stays on but 4x4 is not working

My ‘95 Sierra did the same thing. Folks here steered me to the thermal actuator on the front axle. And they were correct. I swapped it to the later solenoid actuator and wiring harness and it has worked well ever since.

    Reseal/rebuild NP241C parts???

I ended up ordering a seal kit from the jungle for $35.00 and a tube of Permatex 81180 RTV that is specifically for automatic transmissions. Unfortunately the seal kit isn’t expected to deliver until February 21st through 26th. Guess that’ll give me time to replace the leaky engine oil cooler...

    Reseal/rebuild NP241C parts???

Anybody? I yanked it out and got it apart this morning. I got lucky. Interior components all look like new. Bearings all spin smoothly. Chain is good and tight. As expected, the seals are all hard as rocks. It’ll be an easy job to swap seals and reassemble it. I’m just going to order a...

    Reseal/rebuild NP241C parts???

My ‘95 Sierra K1500 has a very leaky transfer case. No noises or engagement issues. Just leaking like crazy. Truck has 125k miles on it. I am ready to pull it out and was going to order seals, maybe seals & bearings, or maybe just a full parts kit. But now I’m confused by the myriad of brands...

    That didn’t last long….

I got antsy so I ran over and got it first thing this morning. All insured and registered now.

After reading some of your replies I thought back to a few vehicles that I’ve sold then later bought back. ‘68 Olds 4-4-2. ‘97 Ducati 916. ‘73 454 Corvette. Now this ‘95 Sierra. I guess it can be counted among the special ones now….

Already considering that move. I really love the new truck though. Decisions….

Why didn’t you warn me? I could have saved $85k by not buying the new one!

    That didn’t last long….

Welcome back to me. I joined up probably a year ago after rescuing my son-in-laws ‘95 Sierra. About 9 months ago I sold it to a friend and bought myself a brand new ‘23 Sierra. Sadly, every few months since then I’ve gone to his house to help him work on various other projects. Every time I...

PSA for camshaft expansion plugs+ flex plate!

And if using a cheap priming tool, be sure it is chucked up TIGHT in the drill. Once upon a time I was priming a new engine when I noticed the drill didn’t have much resistance. Then I noticed metal flakes were raining down the distributor hole from the shaft of the priming tool being ground...

BIZARRE end to the hunting/stumbling idle issue on my ‘95.

I’d checked and adjusted the linkage for the throttle AND cruise control cables.

BIZARRE end to the hunting/stumbling idle issue on my ‘95.

One thing about this that still bugs me is that in all of my messing with it, one of the things I did was to disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the EGR valve in an attempt to isolate it. That didn’t change the problem. And I know that valve was sealing properly. I’m glad it’s fixed, but...

The $260 was JUST the part. His total bill was about $650.00.

BIZARRE end to the hunting/stumbling idle issue on my ‘95.

Haven’t figured that out yet. I was hoping someone here would be able to shed some light there. The mechanic wouldn’t tell him the brand but insisted it was OEM.

BIZARRE end to the hunting/stumbling idle issue on my ‘95.

Just to refresh: I rescued the son-in-law’s ‘95 Sierra K1500 in February after it had sat dead for 12 years. I got it running quite well, but there was a hunting idle accompanied by a slight off-idle stumble issue that I just couldn’t get rid of. I tested individual parts, rebuilt the throttle...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

Allow me to step out of line on this one. My ‘95 is now owned by a friend about 100 miles from me. He’s dropping it off to a local mechanic with an OBD-1 scanner this afternoon to get it checked out. So everyone after me can step up one place in line.

    10.1” ”floater” actually fits nicely.

I really like the large display. But it just didn’t go well in this truck. I’m eventually going to mount it into my home made center console in my El Camino.

That was certainly a short love affair….

Yeah… I’ve been all over the board. I’ve had over 80 vehicles in my day. I’ve only bought maybe five of those brand new. This is my first new truck in ten years and as recently as a week ago I was telling everyone that my ‘95 Sierra was going to be my long-term daily. Then my pants started on...

Thanks. I hope it’s not a disappointment. I’m kind of afraid of a lot of the new technology. We’ll see if it was a sound decision or not.

That was certainly a short love affair….

I only bought this ‘95 a few months ago. It hadn’t run in a dozen years but I nursed it back to life and figured it would be my daily driver for a very long time. A buddy of mine has asked me to sell it to him and two days ago he finally hit a number that I just couldn’t pass up. So I drove...

Uhm… yeah. “Motor builder is suspect” is an understatement. I’ve never seen anyone leave that out. Pretty basic.
