    Should I swap a 383?

I've had one in my truck for a couple of years now and I love it. It has transformed that truck from underpowered to super-powered. The stock Vortec fuel system can support at or a little above 400 HP. So I had mine built for 450. The only downside was I had to replace the rear end and the...

    Should I swap a 383?

I put a 383 in mine a couple of years ago. And there is no comparison between the two. The stock Vortec fuel injection system is capable of supporting about 400 HP, so I had my stock engine built for 450. Brand new, a Vortec 350 was good for 250 HP. If somebody's telling you that 400+ horses...

    Too many Oxygen sensors!

You can remove the two rear O2 sensors, then have Black Bear program your computer with rear O2 sensor delete. That's what I did on mine. No vehicle really needs four O2 sensors.

    Transmission Reccomendations for 383 500hp

And the NV4500's 1st gear is great for rock crawling.

    Transmission Reccomendations for 383 500hp

I've got a 383 putting out a little over 400 HP mated to an NV4500. Seems to do the trick.

Any tricks on replacing outer door handle 88-98

Well, I won't promise no knuckles will go unskinned, but yeah.

Any tricks on replacing outer door handle 88-98

Get someone with small hands to help you because there is no good way to do it. It's just too small of a space to work in. I don't know what year your truck is, but my only recommendation would be to replace it with the '88-'94 door handles, which were made of metal. The '95-'98 handles are...

    Fooling Rear O2 Sensors?

As others have already pointed out, Black Bear can tune your computer to delete the rear O2 sensors. I know this for a fact because I've had it done. My truck only has the front O2 sensors and no loss in driveability.

    NV3500 breaking point?

I had a '94 for thirteen years. It had an NV3500. I'm an aggressive driver, but I never had a problem with it. I'm all for the NV4500. 1st makes for a nice rock crawler gear on a 4x4. The NV 3500 does shift smoother to me though.

    NV3500 breaking point?

I don't know. The article I read about it made it sound bone stock. But I guess it's possible.

    Fooling Rear O2 Sensors?

I removed my rear O2 sensors and had Black Bear tune the computer. Although, the Check Engine light has never worked in my truck, so that might be a problem if you have to pass an inspection where you live.

    NV3500 breaking point?

The 2003-2005 Joe Gibbs Silverado had a supercharged 5.3L that put out 395 HP and 425 lb-ft of torque. The manual transmission offering was the NV3500. If it's good enough for Joe Gibbs...

Best way to prep and paint rusty frame.

I went with POR-15 for my frame and undercarriage. I put it on over four years ago and it's still holding strong. My frame was about in the same shape yours is. (I found the truck in Nebraska where they salt the roads in the winter.) The POR-15 is about $100 a gallon and you also need the metal...

    Inconsistent oil pressure

It depends on the modifications to the truck. That little screw can come in handy. But you're right, you don't wanna use it if you don't have to. In my case, I had to. Even with a Black Bear tune, the stock computer just doesn't know what to do with a 383 stroker.

    Inconsistent oil pressure

These engines always have fluctuations in oil pressure, but not usually that bad. Is it idling fine when stopped, or does the idle drop? If so, there's a little torx screw on the front of the throttle body that adjusts the blade. Turn it clockwise until it holds idle around 750 or so.

'97 C1500 Interior Door Handle Stopped Working

If you're gonna replace it, replace it with the '88 to '94 handles. They're identical to the '95 to '98 ones, except they're made out of actual metal. They don't break as easily.

What GMT400 parts are unobtainable in 2019?

It's called a "Load Reaction Plate." It's the spacer / gasket between the shifter and the manual transmission. They worked great, but they always eventually fail. They stopped making them about ten years ago. Now you have to make a gasket sandwich with a lot of silicone to get your tranny to...

Wanting to know more about 383s

The stock Vortec injection can only support a little over 400 horses. So I built my 383 for 450 HP. It's fine as a daily driver, but my city mileage went down from close to 15 MPG to a little under 13 MPG. If you keep your foot off the pedal. And that's with stock-sized tires.

    Opinions on Seat Swap

I've got leather buckets from an '07 Tahoe in mine, and they're one of the best things I ever did to my truck. I've got service-related back problems, but those Tahoe seats are incredibly comfortable. Big improvement. All I had to do was drill eight holes. They fit just fine, but I am only 5'...

    Nv4500 factory in a 92 k1500!!

A previous owner swapped an NV4500 into mine. I think the NV3500 is a little more fun to drive, but the granny gear in the NV4500 is good for rock crawling. It's supposedly one of the toughest 5-speeds ever made.

    Seat and center console question

I put black leather buckets out of an '08 Tahoe with a jump seat out of an '07 Sierra in mine. Wasn't hard. Did have to drill eight new holes in the floorboard though. Seat technology has come a long ways in the past 10 years. That truck is much more comfortable now. One of the best things I've...

    Leaf Spring Replacement

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'll tell you what, you will feel a big difference in handling after you replace those leaf springs. Even with just the stock 1/2 ton variety.

    Door panel ?

I did mine three or four years back. I just used a razor blade scaper and there may have been a hair dryer involved. After I got the carpet off, I think I used Goof Off to remove the bulk of the adhesive that was left behind. My carpet was in fine shape, I just don't like the way it looks. Plus...

    Which 5 speed trans

NV4500s need a GL4 oil. They have ceramic synchronizers that will corrode with any other kind of oil in it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QIR1V2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Costs about a hundred bucks to change the fluid. NV3500s look completely different. Just google...
