    torsion bars wore out?

This is what I would think a bars fit should look like even after cleaning. Thanks for the pic.

    torsion bars wore out?

Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t have a vehicle to really compare it to. So interestingly enough I happened to inspect a friends 07 duramax. It looked very similar to mine and lone behold his bars were cranked for years. I think this a symptom of being worn over time having the bars cranked...

    torsion bars wore out?

Another thing I’m not clear on. I hear of guys going to softer torsion bars theoretically to achieve a softer ride. Is that how it works given I have to crank my bars up a little (even with my 4” lift) in order for my aftermarket wheels to clear everything(315 70 r17). If I’m cranking my keys at...

    torsion bars wore out?

Also yea I did have my bars cranked up about half way to allow for 285's, which were my last set of tires prior to the lift. I bought this thing as stock as it could be with 99K miles on it. At that time it had 245's. I put the bars down as low as they could go and it was dampened, but still...

    torsion bars wore out?

I just looked it up. Code F60, says heavy duty front springs. I don't know where I got 'plow package' from.

    torsion bars wore out?

It’s very possible these are the wrong bars. Glove box says this is the plow package version, so super stiff bars. Can’t imagine why someone would swap bars unless switching to softer ones and my burban does not ride soft at any adjustment, so I don’t think anyone swapped bars. The bar broke...

    torsion bars wore out?

I marked the bars before I removed them. They're the back in the right spot. Same orientation, same sides. To me it does look like both are slightly worn making a sizable gap. And yea I agree, no idea how these get worn like that, if they are worn. I can see the spring rate getting soft after...

    torsion bars wore out?

Camans bars look way tighter than mine. It does have me a little worried about wear. Ive had trucks my whole life and have never heard of a worn torsion bar or control arm. Not a mechanic though, so... I may take my bars out and weld some meat on the end, grind it down to fit a bit more snug for...

    torsion bars wore out?

Good. Glad to hear it. I wouldn't mind looking into softer torsion bar options, but I would much rather do nothing. Thanks!

cognito stabilizer work with 4" tuff country

So, update. finally installed a year later. Yes, the cognito brackets work with this lift, so I assume they would work with most 4-6 inch lifts. Thanks again.

    torsion bars wore out?

Heres a front view of the passenger side. Both torsion bars look like this in the lca. Thanks

    torsion bars wore out?

Hey guys. I finally got around to installing a 4" tough country lift on my 3/4 ton obs 99 suburban. When I put the bars back in, I noticed the hex don't quite fit as I thought they would. Is it normal to have the hex not fit snug? If you unload the bar and hold it where it should be (hold it to...

HT502 compatible with L29 intake etc?

Thanks for the reply. Great to know. Almost 180k on mine. I don’t want it to fail, but a new motor sounds fun.

HT502 compatible with L29 intake etc?

Love to hear if anyone does this swap. Looking for a "bolt in" swap for all the same reasons in my 99 2500 sub.

4:56 axles or just towing in third gear....????

My experience so far, the front diff is a little trickier to find 4.56. Only time Ive ever used 4 wheel in this truck has been due to bad roads. In other words I don't use it much, I'm not worried about gearing at the same time. I'll pull the fuse for 4x4 until I get it geared properly.

4:56 axles or just towing in third gear....????

That's basically what I'm going for, except add disc brakes. Yup you're right. Some have 8 lug, but I found a 14 bolt ff axle w/4.56 from hillbilly wizard. I think. I visited so many sites I can't differentiate anymore.

4:56 axles or just towing in third gear....????

Guess that seals the deal. Thanks for getting back to me. I ultimately agree. I'm going with the 4.56 gears. Since I've posted I've been scouring for options. I've decided to buy a 14 bolt rear end with 4.56 gears and the disk brake conversion installed from zumbrota reman. If I'm reading this...

4:56 axles or just towing in third gear....????

To start, I've got a k2500 suburban w/7.4, 4l80e. I've had 33's on it for years (65k miles or so) w/3.73 gears runs little under 2000rpm @70 in OD). Towing (4-6K pounds very rarely, no probs with overdrive, unless I'm towing my 30' camper trailer), daily driver, family road trip stuff etc. I do...

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

some pics of the brackets on moog pitman and idler arms. The heim joints come dry. Not sure if using grease to get them moving a little better was a good idea or not. I’m going to try and find a boot solution for them. North central illinois is pretty rough with salt. You can see how the...

cognito stabilizer work with 4" tuff country

Thanks. I will reach out to them. Might be a re-reach. I’ve talked to a few distributors and a few manufacturers over all the parts I’ve recently acquired, I can’t recall if I’ve talked to them. Worst case I’ll get a “man, we already told you.”

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

I did end up buying mine from eBay. Bigkham was the guy selling them.

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

Forgive me figuring out comm., at almost 40 yrs old this is the closest to social media I’ve ever ventured. I meant to put this post in response to an earlier one On this thread. I’ll get it. Eventually. Also I’ll put some pics of cognito stuff soon as I get a chance.

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

I wish I would’ve videoed it before I fixed it with the brackets. The idler arm and pitman allow the center link to go somewhat back and forth. Maybe an 1/8 of an inch. By moving slightly back and forth it was pulling the tie rods in or out slightly. I know it sounds like wore out parts. I do...

    Broke passenger side axle again!

I’m doing the same install soon, same truck, same tires. Very curious if you’ve figured out what it was making the shaft pop like that. Let us know.

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

Incase anyone still reading. I put the highest end moog everything on my k2500 sub 99, ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arms, and all bushings front and back minus lower control arm. That was around 5-6k miles ago. The only part that flat out failed almost right away was the idler arm bracket...
