Need opinion on brake drum quality

Good advise from df2x4. I did the drum brakes on my truck last year; new ACDelco drums from Rockauto, shoes, hardware, cylinders, and brake fluid flush. I do every job according to the service manual, so the installation and bleeding procedures were done correctly. Long story short is that the...

    Hydro boost Rebuild Went Bad

Good question. I'm not sure. I've only seen pictures and rubber seal described as a grommet. I've noticed a little wettness around the rubber seal that eventually runs down and develops a slow drip.

    Hydro boost Rebuild Went Bad

I need to do the same job on my truck. What rebuild kit did you use and from where? I need new grommets for M/C reservoir too; fluid leak around front grommet. Perhaps rebuild M/C.

    Coolant bypass nipple

I did the same when I replaced the bypass hose. I'm going to find a hose barb like you mention. Just waiting for my new pump to get delivered and then button everything back together. Thanks for your feedback.

    Coolant bypass nipple

Sounds like a fitting similar in dimension as the slotted one is ok as long as you can get a good seal with a hose clamp. None of the pumps that I've found locally or on Rockauto or Amazon include the bypass nipple. It's one of those parts that gets reused when replacing the pump. I've read on...

    Coolant bypass nipple

The water pump is toast and I destroyed the slotted bypass nipple trying to remove it from pump. I've searched for new original slotted nipple but found only 2 suppliers making repro nipples for older BBC. My question is; should I go with a different style bypass nipple? 2000 k2500 ccsb L29

    Question about 7.4l Oil Filter

I have a 2000 k2500 with the L29 engine. No filter adapter gasket. It takes the short filter, pf454, to fit above front drive shaft. I think your leak is from a failed filter.

98 7.4 Vortec intake manifold leak

Dexcool seems to be hard on lower intake gaskets. Really softens and distorts the gaskets at the corner passages. How long since your last gasket repair and coolant swap?

98 7.4 Vortec intake manifold leak

The dreaded intake manifold coolant leak. I've done this repair 4 times in 23 years on my 2000 k2500 with L29 engine with 213,000 miles. It's a common problem. The heads get pitted around the coolant passages on the front corners, and the back corners. I haven't done the jb weld fill technique...

    Why!? Drain plug stripped

Those pipie plug extractors work great. I used the size 3/8 to remove the rear diff fill plug on my 14 bolt FF last week. You'll have to do some drilling deep enough to get most of the extractor seeded in the hole by tapping it in with a hammer. Use a breaker bar on the extractor and use gentle...

    Fuel rail leaking L29 454

I don't think it is servicable. I have the service manuals and it dosn't show that connection as a servicable repair. I think you need a new fuel rail. They used to be available on Rockauto but I don't see them there now. If you replace it use extreme care pushing the metal injector retainers on...

    Mark IV 7.4L engine 1989 K3500

You are correct. Those are not vortec heads, and I think 99-00 had the larger push rods. Mine does.

Bent push rods are never fine.

    Antifreeze Leak????

Hard to say from just those pics. Caman96 gives a possible suspect. Could also be a soft plug on back of block or side of block. Do you have a block heater? Coolant leaks can be trickey to pinpoint because coolant can blow around and make other places wet.

Installing lugnuts 4x4 rear disc brake conversion kit

Here is a youtube link. It's a 3-part series. I'm considering doing the premium conversion myself on a 2000 k2500 14 bolt FF. Don't know about the abs or proportioning issues yet.
