1997 gmc yukon idle acting up

Hey so pressure should be close to 60psi on a vortec. If it bleeds down real fast then its likely an injector assembly problem. before you start tearing into things, do some more diagnosing because youve done some major work that is prone to problems. First when you say injectors were...

    Performance upgrades

My opinion, just fix vacuum leaks, coolant leaks, and make sure all the sensors work. Run a fuel pressure test. Get to know what you have before dumping money into stuff like camshafts and liftkits. Its exciting to get a cool platform like that, 454 with a 4l80 behind it. Just keep it...

1997 gmc yukon idle acting up

Run a fuel pressure test before you go any further. My 5.7 vortec ran absolutely terrible and never threw any codes. My fuel pressure was a little weak, but not terrible. Ended up being damaged spark plug wires. I replaced leaking mpfi spider injector, replaced spark plug wires...

    Strange white smoke exhaust

So decided to take the truck out the country road and give it the beans. After a few passes at 55-60mph the exhaust vapor cleared up, absolutely no white smoke now that truck is completely up to temp! Also no more popping from exhaust at full throttle. Transmission is shifting great, power...

    Strange white smoke exhaust

Replaced the caps plugs and rotor and wow its a complete difference power wise and idle/rev efficiency! The plug wires were very brittle, that was the main issue. Next is to replace the lower intake gasket

    Strange white smoke exhaust

I dont have a spark tester, the shop manual mentioned an OHM test that might suffice Yes the wires are correct to the cylinder and HEI plugs. I removed the 1 3 5 7 plugs prior to the update and found some were wet with what looked like engine oil. When I rear the factory manual (should...

    Strange white smoke exhaust

Not to beat a dead horse but still dealing with this issue and I beleive it is unburnt fuel. Today I checked the plug wires and found they were in very poor shape, going to do the "tuneup" with plug wires cap and rotor. Also going to check the condition of the ignition coil. i tested the fuel...

Where does this orange fuel relay wire go??

This might be it! Maybe for dual transfer tanks or something? It still doesnt make sense to me on the wiring diagram though...wouldnt a spare wire for vehicle platform options be obvious if it was factory?

Where does this orange fuel relay wire go??

So the wire im fairly sure is from the loom that comes from the fuel pump and the guide makes it seem connected to the oil switch....but the orange wire going to the ignition is throwing me off because I would expect the fuel wire to go to some sort of ECM solenoid or fuse

Where does this orange fuel relay wire go??

Hello, 2000 k3500 rclb 5.7 vortec 4x4 Previously truck had weak power, I had a good deal on the Standard injector spider setup and also bought some new intake gaskets. I removed the old spider and installed the new one, also replaced the upper gasket and throttle body gasket. To be honest it...

    Best choice for MPFI

I just ordered the Autozone GP sorenson brand and will see how it goes. I am working on a low power super rich running 5.7 vortec. I removed the top intake and it looks like it has the $100 chinese MPFI...which the GP sorenson is too but I think from what I understand that distributor is...

Android vs iphone OBD2 bluetooth/wifi apps

Well good news! I found an old android phone of mine with torque - lite and it had timing advance on there. Was at 12' positive idle and 38' positive at 3,000rpm. No clue if thats good for an old 5.7 vortec but it was in line with past threads. I think im done wrenching around and going to...

Android vs iphone OBD2 bluetooth/wifi apps

I have an iphone and use the bafx Wifi adapter with OBD Fusion app. I do not believe this app has any tailored GM specific PIDs, and couldnt find any other apps on the iphone app marketplace that did either. Are the android (google marketplace) and bluetooth elm327 apps better then what is...

Question about how transfer case/diff works

Ive reviewed a ton of threads and think Ive got this figured out, but would anyone look at this and see if Im incorrect in my understanding of the mechanics here. Veh is a 2000 3500 4x4 automatic w/ 5.7 gas 4l80e and full float rear axle w/ g80. Manual 4X4 shift lever Got it stuck in mud and...

    Strange white smoke exhaust

Well now im a little more confused. I drained about 7 gallons out the tank after disconnecting the fuel filter, with the intention of replacing it with fresh and then replaced the filter. I still have some fuel in the tank but not sure how much, its got to be close to empty. Drove the truck...

2000 K2500 with FF rear end, brake issue while plowing

I have the sameish truck. The rear drums lock up so easy on my gravel driveway. I imagine its not as noticeable when you are driving on a surface that gives you more friction, like pavement. I imagine the cold snow packing around the tires, everything else, and the intermittent braking...

    97 K1500 DD/Overlander

Wow that rust in the rear frame is no joke, cant wait to see how this turns out. I took a huge gamble on buying one site unseen and thankfully its in decent shape. Worst frame issue is a cracked leaf spring hanger and the fuel tank is held in by one strap hanger and one 2" ratchet strap The...
