    Column mounted PRDNL switch?

    Can someone explain this switch to me as it pertains to our trucks? Is it a redundant neutral safety switch? The bushings have turned to dust and the one end was disconnected for the longest time. The rod pulls completely out of the switch. 97 5.7 4l60e 2wd
