    Front Lower Control Arms

I had my alignment done as well now (finally), no issues. Only thing I had to do was to grind away 1-3 mm on the LCA to get the knuckle to hit the stop when turning. So works fine on a 1991 K2500, 6-lug at least.

K2500 LCA help identifying this piece

But I have to ask, why do you want to change your forged LCA for some chinesium pressed ones? They look good in your picture? Isnt it better to just change bushings and ball joint?

K2500 LCA help identifying this piece

The service manuals are fairly good. Best part of this site.. ;) https://www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/

Whut? Mine had a perfectly placed hole for the sway bar. Sure you are looking at it the right way up? :) Pictures?

Can you bleed RWABS with the truck in the air?

Im in the process of trying to bleed the rear brakes now after an accidental emtying of the master cylider.. Did a first try as Im used to on other cars (bench bleed MC, bleed rear>front), got superspongy feel and after that read about the RWAL issue. I have the second version of it, like post...

I know, data stream. Long time lurk

Living in a country where manual are the rule and automatic the exception I can just say manual is a strange, unworthy way of driving a daily driver, especially in city trafic... :) Might accept manuals for things going off road, track cars or work machines. But as soon there is civilization...

    Front Lower Control Arms

No need to cut any bolts, the video above seems to do it since it collides with the drive axle? Mine didnt do that. Best one, if rust is not an issue: Drop the LCA to remove tension (remove everything and let it drop toward the ground). Knock the bar forward. Then remove the LCA with the bar...

    Front Lower Control Arms

Good point, with the ball joints. I had already bought new ball joints before realizing I was changing the LCA as well. So thats why I thought about changing. But Ill think about it. Regarding the press. Youre right, the front bushing-holder started to give so I had to back off, seperate the...

    Front Lower Control Arms

I didnt remove my torsion bars, just raised the truck and dropped the LCA until all tension was off. Then moved the LCA forward (theoretically, I ended upp cutting away mine), but the installation of the new one went fairly easy with the bars in place. But if you are removing the bars I guess...

    Front Lower Control Arms

Only good news. I have a new tool in the collection (bushing press) and the Astro LCA is in place. Thanks for the help and inputs. But for future reference. I bought RK641493 and RK641492 ULTRA-POWER from rock auto. The reason I picked those was that on the picture the ball joint was bolted...

    Front Lower Control Arms

A quick and dirty shot of the rear bushing. I can get a few more of the front as well tomorrow, but that looks more like the old bushing, so I suspect it is pressed far enough.

    1995 Chevrolet 1500 4X4 5.7L oil filter adaptor

You have a point, but they also had a tech. requirement of the engine to hold up for world wide enviroment without issues. -40 to 120(?) F, towing, high altitude etc. etc. So if you run in a more resonable enviroment, change your oil and tend to check the tempereratures now and again I would...

    Front Lower Control Arms

Thats the answer I suspected and wanted.. But since I have a long trail of things thats broken and destroyed behind me due to that mindset I have, as I gotten older, started to ask others first. :)

    Front Lower Control Arms

Yeah, I was mostly rubber-ducking a bit I guess. But I since I never done bushings, I still wonder if the bushings is designed to get the flange flush or what desides when the bushing is pushed far enough?

    Front Lower Control Arms

Short update and some questions. Tried the Astro LCA on for size today. Did not fit. Started measuring. The metal part of the LCA itself seems ok, but the inner distance measured bushing to bushing (between the legs of the "A") is 3-4mm to large, 0.1-0.15" for the conservatives out there.. Too...

    Driveline Vibrations---Possible Driveshaft Issues?

Wait what? Do you need to rebalance after a u-joint change? Nothing Ive ever done, was that luck?

Hi from other side of the pond (Sweden)

Oil stain more or less gone, removed entire oil cooler pipe-assembly and changed to a standard filter-fitting.. I wont tow that much anyway. So now to the winter project. Almost everything between stering gear box to the knuckles will be changed, Ill keep the sway bar and center link, but...

    Front Lower Control Arms

Couldnt agree more. But my experience is that a couple of sloppy owners and everything close to the wheels is bare metal and after that it gets ugly fast, the lower control arm seems to be one of the most exposed part off the chassie, at least by the look of it on mine.. (Im not counting the...

    Front Lower Control Arms

I just want to thank you, living in Sweden close to the sea and with salty roads half the year I softly laughed when someone in the beginning said "They're not wear parts. You don't replace them".. given a very well maintained truck with one owner and frequent washes and good undercoatings that...

Fuel gauge stuck in a full position, did I just get lucky?

The "happy fuel gauge" symptom seems to be a common feature in the industry. Both my SAABs and Toyotas behaved that way. If I remember correctly the ground wire above the tank i prone to failure and gives full tank reading? Or is that only for older models?

Hi from other side of the pond (Sweden)

Bought a low-prio, "do it when I have the need to get dirty-project" a few months back, 1991 K2500, extended cab, 6-lug, 370 000 km (230 000 miles). The plan for it is to have it as a too loud and big thing to go to the beach in, move stuff, and hopefully introduce the V8-facination to the kids...
