    Front diff swap

They were inconsistent with the 9.5, you could have got it in anything. There was two or three different sizes of drum brakes too.

    Front diff swap

A 2wd axle is a different width than a 4x4 axle, the 2wd is a few inches narrower

    Front diff swap

Whatever truck you get the rear end from should also have the correct front diff. Good choice on the rear end swap, I did the same thing on mine and I'm 100% glad I did. And just FYI, if you don't already have the rear end, be aware that you can't convert an 8 lug rear axle to 6 lug. I tried...

5.7 Random Misfire & Hard start Help

Timing chain? I had misfire and hard start problems. I replaced all the usual tune up items, sensors, ignition parts, etc, with no luck. It ended up being a loose timing chain.

    Front diff swap

If it's a 6 lug it got the smaller diff, if its 8 lug it got the bigger diff. 1500/2500 doesn't matter.

    Front diff swap

3.73 is a very common ratio in these trucks, I doubt finding one would be harder than swapping a diff from a completely different truck.

    Unicorn lift kit?

You can run 33s on reasonable wheels without any lift, I had 33s on my truck for 10 years and all I did was crank it to level. There's no kit that will add travel to these trucks, a 4-6 lift kit will keep your suspension the same, just moved further down with brackets. Those "key" lifts are...

    1988 GMC C1500 - Z06 Package!

That looks great! I've been really wanting a single cab street truck lately, especially now that my truck is "done" as far as major modifications go. It's just maintenance from here on out and that's just not as much fun! If you don't mind me asking, where are you finding all these trucks so...

Looking for a very mild 2" to 4" suspension for a K3500 Crew SRW.

I have 37s on a 6" lift and I still had to trim some sheet metal.

    Ca smog legal 383 stroker

I have not heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me. They consider it a California vehicle if it spends the "majority" if it's time in CA, or if you as they owner file CA taxes or anything like that. Either way he'd still be a CA resident since he actually lives there. I once looked into it...

    Ca smog legal 383 stroker

Oh and it's technically not legal but I know South Dakota will let you register your vehicles there without actually living there. I used to know some people who lived in their RV's full time and that is what they did. It'll look really suspicious for a local kid with a CA license to have SD...

    Ca smog legal 383 stroker

Now they will fail you for having any kind of tune on your truck. Before I moved out of CA I was planning on buying a second computer to tune and swap my stock one back in for smog but I ended up moving before that could happen.

Things are getting ugly.. What would you do??

It's really not that bad. I've done it before. Just cut/drill the head off then punch it out with an air hammer. That air hammer will be worth it's weight in gold if you want to keep doing front end work on your truck. The one I have is $50 at home depot. What's your time worth?

Pictures Please!! What Chevy/GMC Stock Wheels Did You Put On Your GMT400 Tahoe?

I know it's not a Tahoe, but here's mine from a few years ago. These are probably my favorite stock wheels, and they fit really well, almost the same as the stock sawblades. They are just a tad wider. I think they look really good on a stock or close-to-stock truck. Much cleaner than the...

Worth with 3 inch lift kit?

I have a shackle flip on my truck, it's great not having a block but it puts the pinion at a weird angle and it's hard to get it back to where it should be.

Worth with 3 inch lift kit?

I'll also say that the few hundred bucks you save with the cheap lift is a drop in the bucket compared to the full cost of the lift, tires, wheels, gears and other expenses that usually accompany a lift. Even if you do all the work yourself it's still going to be thousands of dollars by the time...

Worth with 3 inch lift kit?

I like lifts and drive a lifted truck and I still agree 100%. I think this body style is unique in that it looks equally good lifted, lowered and stock. I have to admit that part of the reason I lifted my truck is because I thought it looked cool. I did drag the belly a lot off road so a...

    Better gas mileage and performance.

The narrower stance will save your front end too, you'd be surprised how (not) long balljoints and alignments last with super wide setups. And the smaller tires will be easier on your trans, you are getting close to that time. 160k+ is when you start seeing "rebuilt trans" in the for sale ads...

    Better gas mileage and performance.

Yeah 4.10 is the highest stock option. I think there were some factory special 4.56 but that would likely have been government/miltary trucks and most likely 8 lug. The vast majority of 1500s were 3.73 and 3.42. I looked for years trying to find a 4.10 six lug axle but never did. They mostly...

Painted my truck with turbo cans lol

I don't know much about paint but I do know rustoleum doesn't belong on cars. Plenty of accounts of people all over the internet painting their cars with it because it's cheap but then it fades and peels in a couple years.

Not sure if this is the right place.

If you have any of the old bolts usually you can find them at Ace Hardware. Just bring in the old ones and find ones that match. If you don't have the old ones, your best bet is the junkyard.

    Long tubes on 4x4

I've heard that they often don't bolt up to the stock pipes either, that they hang lower so you might have more work to do than you expect.

    Better gas mileage and performance.

I'm pretty sure your O2 sensor is the issue. In my experience O2 sensor problems make the engine run rich and waste gas. Back when I had 33s, 3.42s and no lift I was getting 13-14 mpg. If I remember right I lost about 1-2 mpgs going from a 285 A/T tire to a 12.50 M/T tire for what it's worth...

    Greetings from California

Sounds like a good deal! Trucks are expensive these days, sounds like you are putting in the work and will come out ahead in the end. I'm from California too, I'm originally from the central valley but spent that last 15ish years in Santa Cruz and the Monterey/Salinas area before jumping ship...

    Does anyone’s workbench . . .

Mine looks like that even when I'm not working! I get the urge to do a deep clean and re-organize about once a year but then as soon as I start working out there again it's back to the same old mess. My wife hates it too but her answer to everything is "Oh i just tossed it in the garage" or...
