    Quick question....

Yes. It's a 96 K1500. That makes sense as I think it's connected to the color coded airbag harness, as far as I can tell. Thanks.

    Quick question....

Changing my pitman arm and this was in the way of the steering gear bolts. It's hanging down in the pic. What is it?

    Weird data.

Would the knock sensor counts be caused by the loose elements in the bad cat?

    Weird data.

Oh yeah, that's right. Egg meet my face. I'm using the dash command app with bluetooth reader. I'll be pulling into the garage this weekend for a pitman arm and the other cat replacement. I'll see where I'm at afterward. Don't know if the crank sensor has ever been replaced with over 180k on the...

    Weird data.

1996 K1500 vortec 5.7 New dizzy, plugs, wires, mpfi upgrade and throttle body gaskets, cat (need to install the other because it's started to rattle/ pos flowmaster cats), timing chain has 6* total slack, new fuel filter. Starts up right away, fuel pressure may be a bit low/ 56 psi at key on, 46...

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

I was hoping to find a broken spring or out of adjustment. No such luck. I did however, find the pid for the knock sensor in dash command:

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

It passed the injector balance test on the new spider injection so unless it's an electrical issue effecting #4 (both before and after upgrade) in the wiring harness, I think I want to concentrate on other electrical and mechanical possibilities. How do I check for a sticking valve? A running...

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Ok. New AC Delco cap and Delphi rotor. Not throwing a misfire code yet but it's still there and way less than before: Fuel trims are way better also: So, out of about 3,000 revolutions on cylinder 4 it misfired 23 times. What could I test next?

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Yeah, I read all that. New dizzy, rotor, and cap wires and plugs in January of this year. Its a 96 so no coil in distributor, just the cam position sensor. I'll probably be getting new cap and rotor so I'll look at other things while I'm in there. Gonna' swap an ignition wire first.

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Thanks, I'll look into that later. I just had a brain fart. I pulled the #4 plug and check for spark and I had spark but looked weird. I hooked up an old school ignition test light to #4 wire and saw a definite inconsistency in the spark. Checked #1 and it was consistent. I have a spark/ignition...

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Ok, new cat in on bank 2, new fuel filter, new downstream o2, new mpfi with all new gaskets, brake booster vacuum leak repaired, injector balance test performed for good measure. These are all good repairs as they were going to need done anyway. We'll see......

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Pipe tapped and plugged old downstream o2 sensor bung that broke off. New cats have built in bung.

185,000 mile fuel filter. Assuming original. No numbers. "Made in the USA" and "Outlet" are the only markings.

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

The cats in it now are 'from Flow master'. I knew one cat was bad as it developed a rattle. They need replaced anyway. If the cheapo's work until I get better ones I'm good.

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

I'm getting closer to betting my money on a bad/clogged/?? bank 2 catalytic converter because cylinders 2,4,6, and 8 are the only ones with the substantial misfires and now the common denominator is the exhaust.

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

So, where I'm at now....... Waiting on cats and need to repair downstream O2 sensor bung. I'll bring #1 to tdc and check the rotor tomorrow but I don't think it has move because that would alter my cmp angle which is 1.1 to 1.6 degrees.

Problem on the 'limp' home yesterday.

Pressure held a 48 psi for 10 minutes before I releived it so that issue is resolved. Thanks to stutaeng for the tip on the Allosun tester.

Or, if you turn your key you should be able to hear your fuel pump prime up. If so, you have power to the underwood fuse panel because that's where the relay for the fuel pump is.
