Lets see them 8 lugs!! 2500-3500 Photo thread!

Here is my 1989 K3500 with my 1973 F250, both set up to plow. Later I painted the GMC and did other things to make it a reasonable going to town truck

Rag Joint / Steering Coupler Mod

My 1989 k3500 SRW had a rag joint. The plastic cover is easy to pull up the shaft after you unhook it from the ps line. I replaced it with the Cunningham shaft and that took away most of the play. In my case, welding the rag joint would not have worked. The steering box and the shaft are not...

Help keep these center caps on the truck!

Wow thank you for the link... Well, there's a lot happening on that page. I think my part is number 11, but none of the options correspond to the part numbers on my caps. In any case, mine look just like what the internet shows for the listed caps. Further, my lug nuts look just like part...

Help keep these center caps on the truck!

The parts list I could find seems to point to something like what I have, but I don't have a manual that shows wheels, nuts, and center caps all together for whatever the options were that year. Anyone have a link that would show all that?

Help keep these center caps on the truck!

I have an '89 K2500 with steel wheels and the pound-on center caps. I lost one of them soon after I started driving the truck, and I have dropped and recovered center caps on two other occasions. I know how to orient them, and know they are just pounded on, but I can't really get them to seat...

    Proper vacuum routing - 454 EGR/EVRV solenoid

I verified my hoses were hooked up as stated above. And to close this story, I pulled vacuum per the troubleshooting guidelines in the service manual and it showed the solenoid valve was bad. I replaced it with new and no longer get a trouble code.

    '89 door pull strap?

I also made a replacement metal strap using 22 gage steel. The outer rubber slides off easy if it's warm.

    Proper vacuum routing - 454 EGR/EVRV solenoid

I'm diagnosing a code 32 and one of my checks was of the vacuum lines and boots. In doing so, I referenced the FSM to ensure it's all hooked up correctly. The truck is newish to me, so the first time I look at any system I like to start with the basics. Anyhow, the two illustrations on this in...

TBI 454 idler pulley spacer, bushing, or sleeve

Right, I think that small aluminum bushing in thy picture is required to keep the pulley spinning free when tightened. In my case the outside edge of the pulley hits the mounting bracket if I use that small bushing. It would spin free otherwise, it just needs a thicker spacer, or a few washers.

TBI 454 idler pulley spacer, bushing, or sleeve

Does anyone recognize this part from behind my idler? The large one on the left was installed, the small one came from the parts store. The thick part is bent and the pulley isn't in plane with the belt, so I want to get a replacement. I can't find this part in the diagrams. If I install the...

Looking for 4 speed shifter boot

I have an 89 K3500 4wd with the same shifter surround/bezel and the same broken shifter boot. If anyone has information on a suitable substitute, I would also like to know about it. This one looks the same as mine; the boot is wrapped around a plastic clip that snaps down onto that plastic...

    Sensor identification help

Just in case someone else runs into this, I thought I'd respond and close the case. This turned out to be the plastic portion of the third coolant temp sensor which runs the auxiliary fan. That circuit isn't on my Haynes wiring diagram but it's sure on the truck. The original sensor is...

    Sensor identification help

Thanks for the lead. Here is a picture of the a/c compressor and the single wire connection on the back. Would there normally be two sensors? I don't believe the a/c works though I haven't looked into it much. I just don't hear the compressor clutch when I push the button.

    Sensor identification help

Hello all, I just got an 89 K3500 with the 7.4L engine and "3 speed" manual. Overall it's in good shape and I'm working through various small issues. I've gotten a lot of great info from this forum and I hope you can help me here. I came across a sensor laying on top of the passenger side of...
