No start after oil pump replacement

No, I'm not confusing it. I know where the camshaft position sensor is. I did however, remember that wrong lol. Looking at the picture I have. I was remembering a fuse on the top of the rotor cap, but it's just this blue square that looks like one. Idk why I was thinking of that as a fuse lol...

No start after oil pump replacement

yes to both idk. I'm just verifying it to rule it out. When you take the first cap/cover off that the wires are attached to, there is another cap on top of the rotor/shaft with a fuse.

No start after oil pump replacement

Yes it's spinning. I visually verified that by turning it over with the cover off. The timing is set to TDC on NR. 1 cylinder too. What would cause the distributor to just stop putting out a spark all of a sudden? The fuse was good on the distributor cap too.

No start after oil pump replacement

Yes, the distributor seems to be the most likely culprit. I just have a hard time believing that, with it being less than a year old, and stopped working overnight lol.

No start after oil pump replacement

I've narrowed it down to a spark issue. I have like 58lbs on the fuel rail, and the cylinders smell of fuel when I pull the plugs too.

No start after oil pump replacement

It wont start at all. No sputters, just the movement from the starter. And no lift, I did everything from under the the truck. and I checked most of the plugs, they weren't wet, or discolored, gap was perfect too.

No start after oil pump replacement

    No, just pure starter lol

No start after oil pump replacement

The entire ignition system from battery to spark plugs is practically brand new. Worked completely fine before I went to do the pump. And now, all of a sudden something isn't right

No start after oil pump replacement

I have spark intermittently, tested 3 different spark plugs. On the third test, the engine started. Went to try again, and no start.

No start after oil pump replacement

No I didn't touch the distrubutor other than linking the new ahaft up to it. And it spins, and the timing is set to TDC on nr. 1 cylinder.

No start after oil pump replacement

Just replaced my oil pump. And yes the engine has been rebuilt before, not all 400k are on these internals lol. But they didn't do the oil pump. However, I just buttoned everything up and went to start the truck up. NO start. I have no idea why not. I know for a fact I'm getting fuel. But...

97 5.7 low oil pressure fix?

Howdy y'all, I'm having oil pressure problems, just wanted to see if there's anything else to do before I go and replace the oil pump. No reason to believe the sending unit is reading incorrectly. It tracks how it's supposed to, doesn't bounce around. It's just after the engine warms up, and...

Vortec 5.7 oil pressure sending unit

So I'm having the same issue you first described with my '97 5.7 K2500. You replaced the oil pressure sender/sensor, and the low oil pressure issue is gone? Cause I was about to just replace my oil pump. I figured it couldn't be the sensor because the oil pressure is fine until the truck warms...

No idea what's wrong with my 1997 Chevy 2500HD

This would throw a misfire code though right ?

No idea what's wrong with my 1997 Chevy 2500HD

I haven't checked them electrically, but wouldn't that cause a misfire? Because the misfire counters stayed at 0 even when the condition occurred. He didn't see anything out of the ordinary, other than audible back fires when you come off the gas at high RPMs. But the backfires are what you'd...

No idea what's wrong with my 1997 Chevy 2500HD

I bought it not too long ago, it was running horribly before I got my hands into it, couldn't make it around the block. Tested the fuel off the test connection on the fuel rail at idle, increasing RPM, and if it held the pressure when you turn the truck off. It didn't hold the 60 psi for even a...

Also replaced the camshaft position sensor too.

No idea what's wrong with my 1997 Chevy 2500HD

I have a 97' Chevy 2500HD 5.7 L31. The truck runs fine at idle and under low load around town. No misfires, and starts right up. Only thing is when you actually press on the gas > ~30% throttle the engine puts out no power, and jerks around like it's stalling out or misfiring. Whens it finally...
