3/4 ton shocks on 1/2 ton 96 yukon

I did this for my 93 2wd suburban. I put in 3/4 ton shocks. Really didn't do too much, but it did level out the ride so it didn't have that 2wd 'droop' in the front. Rides about the same. Not sure if you have ever changed springs before, but do your research and be careful. I heard an old...

Please help! Running poorly. 454 7.4 94 suburban. No power. Need to tow and go!

New thread? I did something wrong. Just being a newb, maybe its cause I'm Canadian. Dunno. Anyhoo, the spark plugs were an inch longer and the gap was at .054 as opposed to the .035 they should have been. It would start quick but like a boom, as if the cylinder was filling up-like you...

Please help! Running poorly. 454 7.4 94 suburban. No power. Need to tow and go!

-as in previous threads, running a limping town vehicle. Leaving in a day. Going to try a decent mechanic stateside. Flat around here, so going slow is possible till can fix up. Any help appreciated. Will post more about my vehicles to hopefully help others once they are running better...

94 454, GMC Suburban -Idle Air Control, O2, TPS, Fuel Pump relay all replaced-still code 12, 36

Okay, going to try the throttle linkage trick. Light still on, stalled today after running 5 minutes. Replaced spark plugs with platinum, new cap and rotor. Previous owner had massive spark plugs with an enormous gap. Like, .054. Could be that running that way for so long led to carbon and...

94 454, GMC Suburban -Idle Air Control, O2, TPS, Fuel Pump relay all replaced-still code 12, 36

This to me, sounds like the most plausible explanation for the suction feeling. As far as scan tool. Hard to come by in these parts. Many garages who used work on and safety inspect these vehicles have relinquished their small vehicle inspection licences and gotten rid of old diagnostic tools...

94 454, GMC Suburban -Idle Air Control, O2, TPS, Fuel Pump relay all replaced-still code 12, 36

Checked pintle size, confused the parts counter people. Appears they did not know as the specs did not indicate. I appear to have the right one. I'll have to re-check to make sure. Thank you.

So, added seafoam, changed fuel filter, also filled tank and added octane boost. It runs like it would rather be a Tesla. Taking it to an old school pro-rare in these parts to give it a throrough looking over. Another old timer told me that these engines were prone to intake manifold...

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

Well, not sure about the issues with the 2500. Sure, it is a no brainer towing with that one. The numbers are tight. But I think that is good for me being diligent in preparation and not bringing too much stuff. Plus, once we're camped, I'd rather drive around in the 1500. Gas mileage..

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

Thanks bud, appreciate the input. I have driven throughout western canada, several times, I mean many, many times. Familiar with those roads and the driver's and as know in BC, those with beginner tags-Alberta plates. Wind is my worst enemy. Just don't know the capabilities of that vehicle...

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

It is a 1994, I just learned how to put that info in my signature. It has the full float 14 bolt rear end with the 4l80e.

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

That is good to know, regarding 3.42 running good in 3rd. We will go slow, America is beautiful. Checking brakes and wiring to make sure. Might end up taking the big block if I can get it running right. ( I have a 454, 7.4 2500 burb as well.)

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

Well..., to your place, we are going for coffee and you are going to show me around. You are right, I know it is flat, just not wanting to burn out this truck on the way, as I know it will be great to drive around Texas. Going through Bridgeport, then to Greater Houston area.

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

By the way, was going to put helper air bags to level out, always towed with the equalizer hitch/bars. But it appears I may be underpowered, towing with what is essentially a big family 'car'.

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

Have C tires on it now, plush ride. Putting tow rated tires now. Thing is, this model came with 5 bolt, 15 inch rims. Old style like the Explorer roll over days. Hard to find LT up here in that size range. 235/75/15. Thank you for your help.

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

The manual gives a higher GCWR for 2wd. It tows good here, going slow, etc. But it is flat here. This burb is more of a car, the first 'suv'. 5 bolt wheels, the light package. Especially with the 3.42. I don't mind put-putting and enjoying the scenery at a relaxed pace. Had the...

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

Thanks for the feedback. I went slow when I towed, but it is flat here. I am more concerned with the braking.

    1993 GMC Suburban 2wd 3.42 gears,

What is my towing max? Am I pushing it with a family of four, trailer with a max weight of 5200 lbs. *-Looking at a new trailer with a dry weight of 4450 5900. I believe my max towing for the vehicle is 6 or 6500. I have a trans cooler, 460le. Everything is stock. I know, don't tow in OD...

94 454, GMC Suburban -Idle Air Control, O2, TPS, Fuel Pump relay all replaced-still code 12, 36

Replaced EGR yesterday. Truck ran better, I guess? Light was off. Went on again couple hours later. Then went off again next time truck was started. Going to have to do a throttle body rebuild. Not always, but the throttle still sticks and jumps when I press the pedal to accelerate.

94 454, GMC Suburban -Idle Air Control, O2, TPS, Fuel Pump relay all replaced-still code 12, 36

I sprayed the EGR with the throttle body cleaner. Pushed the valve in with the straw, then blasted inside with the valve depressed in - while holding the unit upside down. The valve play improved dramatically. Cleaned the throttle body. Put valve back. Started engine, no light, better...
