Are you willing to do all this work yourself or have a shop to all of it or combination? A lot will depend on your own technical knowledge and skill.

    Tool Box Suggestions

I really like my US general box from Harbor freight. This is right after I got it before I put my tools in it. I'm a truck driver and I was asking the guys in our repair shop what they use and they all had snap on's except one guy didn't believe in spending so much for a box and recommended US...

    Rear leaf spring shackle OEM?

Those are not stock shackles. However, if you just remove the bolt and position the leaf spring eye three holes down, it should be about the stock right height.

    Keep Manifolds or get shorties?

Long tubes will require a little bit of custom work, whereas shorties should bolt right into the place of the factory manifolds with no other modification required. If you are going to be upgrading the rest of the exhaust, might as well do the headers while you're in there.

What suspension/bushings/etc am I due for?

I see you redid your front brakes, maybe take a look at the rear brakes, pull the drum off, check how much shoe material is left. You mentioned you replaced the driveline. Not sure if that included the rear end, but may be a fluid change. Air filter and fuel filter, PCV valve Take a look at...

    First time doing drum brakes

Yep, that's a standard configuration for the 10 inch drums. You're right you are missing a spring on the bottom that hooks into the two holes on the shoes and goes underneath the double riveted centerpiece.

Rebuild or not bottom end 350 tbi

First off, slow down for a minute. @Schurkey is one of the most knowledgable people on this forum. Dismissing his contribution out of hand is a mistake. Now, the 350's bottom end is pretty sturdy providing it has had regular maintenance during it's life. If you are looking for more assurance...

    305 TBI Header (?)s

The simplest way to go is go to a treasure yard and grab an entire axle assembly that has 3.73 gears off a C series truck. ( the K series trucks have a track width that is slightly larger.) The yard in my area has axle assemblies for $95 and a $20 core. If you take it off of 1500 it's a simple...

    305 TBI Header (?)s

If you're willing to go as far as camming a Tbi 305, I would suggest saving up and waiting to do a 350 swap and proceeding from there. Period. The shorties and Ultimate Tbi model are just nibbling around the edges. Start with a good power plant. Now if you're unwilling or unable to swap the...

    Header EGR Pipe

What year? What engine? What state are you in? Do you have to pass emissions in your state? Are you just looking to have a truck that runs or are you looking for a performance boost?

What vehicle are we talking about? What year? What engine? Automatic or manual transmission? You're saying you're revving the engine, but your speed isn't increasing? Were you washing inside the engine bay?

    JB6 Brake Upgrade

In the quest for a firmer brake pedal on my 92 C1500 RCLB i have completed the following at separate times: remove ABS, replace rubber hoses with SS braided hoses, rebuilt factory 10" drum brakes (new AC Delco cylinders, Duralast shoes, and AC Delco hardware). By far the biggest difference in...

Head Swap Options For 5.7L 350 TBI Engine

Yeah, I'm not sure about that. Using the filter on their page to narrow down the selections, there are only like eight or nine heads that match the years the TBI was available. Only four models remain in stock, and none of those four have more than four remaining in inventory. I'm not sure if...

90 GMC Sierra rear brake change

I did the ABS delete on my 92 C1500. Not as dramatic a difference in the pedal feel as I expected but it was there. I always use my parking brake. I've always thought of it as saving some kind of wear on the transmission. Kind of like the weight of the vehicle is not resting on the...

'88 TBI Suburban - Engine Overhaul - Help me plot this out

The O2 sensor is located on the driver side manifold, not the Y pipe. So I guess technically you could leave the O2 sensor alone. If you're thinking about going to a roller cam or some different heads, I would suggest new headers along with the Y pipe. It says in your first post that it's a...

'88 TBI Suburban - Engine Overhaul - Help me plot this out

Y pipe is probably the biggest restriction right now. You you could do shorty headers and a mandrel bent Y pipe to the cat as long as it's in the stock position. Bolts right in. Or you could do long tube headers and a custom pipe to the cat.

1988 350 tbi Rough Idle When Warm

How old are the plug wires, cap, and rotor? When you installed the IAC valve, did you perform the relearn procedure that's in the factory manual? Have you checked for any vacuum leaks? Before replacing the fuel pump, MAP sensor, and EGR valve, did you verify they were not working? The stuff you...

I bought a lowered C1500 and I need some advice on how to improve axle clearance and ride quality

First off, punctation is your friend. Please use it. As far as the shock mounts go, the lower extenders are easy to put in. Unbolt the shock, install the extender, re-install the shock to it's new location. The upper mounts are trickier. I'm not even sure you can put the upper ones in...
