    1995 k3500 7.4 timing issues

On a 95 the plug you need to disconnect is under the glove box, not in the engine compartment. I did have this happen before, where unplugging the wire would make the timing steady but plugging it in would make it erratic and backfire. Tried a known good ICM on it and no change, a new...

Dug into my front suspension today. Now I have a steering knuckle question.

That is a dust seal to ensure nothing gets in the bearing and causes wear. But it doesn’t seal oil or anything from coming out

My 1992 has that same steel cover. Only 4x4s will have the bosses for the strut rods but otherwise fulfill the same purpose

leaf spring bushing replacement - DIY or have a shop do it

+1 on getting the bolts out of the spring eyes. If rust isn’t too bad they will come out with a little hammering. In my case I needed to cut both ends of the bolts off with a large cut off wheel between the shackles and the remaining shank would come out with the bushing

    External slave nv4500 value

The NV4500 always had a synchronized 1st from the start. It has a weighted synchro setup that makes it almost impossible to downshift to 1 but it’s still synchronized. I’m not sure about synchronized reverse, I think the dodge version had it and was added at some point by GM

TBI big block exhaust manifold brands?

I did try one of the China ones, they fit fine and do work, the only issue I had was that there was excess casting slag in between the runners that interfered with the heat shields for the plug wire boots, which in turn made it hard to put the spark plugs in. A few minutes with a grinder could...

    Suburban NV4500 swap

I ordered this from Amazon last year when I did my swap, seems to be the correct stuff and haven’t had any issues after a few thousand miles. I agree the long wait time now is odd

    fog light problem

Sorry if that note was confusing; based on what I’ve seen in the diagrams, that fuse will be hot if the truck is so equipped, whether it be fog lights, DRLs or both, the power for them runs through that fuse. Also, all trucks shipped to Canada in 1990-up came with DRLs.

    fog light problem

I think the power for those goes through the “DRL” (daytime running lights) fuse, I’d check that. Beyond that, look at the wiring manual mentioned above to guide you. Hopefully your switch is good, cause they are hard to find and very expensive if you do find one.

What transmission is in my 1988 3500?

It was swapped out. The M20 code means the truck had an SM465, which is the descendant of the SM420 and has a granny gear (and is a cast iron case). By your description, what you have now is likely a light duty 5 speed from a GMT400, but they are classified differently based on year, so hard to...

    RCLB K2500, K3500 Differences?

You cannot easily swap a 2wd frame for 4wd. Suspension mounting points are different, front crossmember different, among several other things. Easier to just find the proper frame. Also, all else being equal, a DRW frame is the exact same as a SRW. Only thing you’d have to do is swap over the...

    Running terribly

For the distributor, (if going from scratch) the motor should be at TDC of the compression stroke, and the rotor should be pointed at the #1 wire on the cap (normally it roughly aligns with the #1 cylinder but not exactly). Based on your description you most likely have it 180 degrees (1 full...

95 w/t 4.3l manual transmission -does 95 year only apply

NP. Only thing I’ll add is to try and stick with 93-95 if you can find one, there was an internal redesign in 93 that made it more reliable than earlier versions

95 w/t 4.3l manual transmission -does 95 year only apply

If you are asking if you can swap a Different year transmission in, the answer is yes. You can substitute an 88-94 manual trans in without issue, the only thing that is different is the shift lever and boot

    Proper vacuum routing - 454 EGR/EVRV solenoid

If you have the original vacuum lines, it’s impossible to mix them up; the sizes are different to ensure you get them on the correct way. In the event you don’t, the top port on the EVRV should be connected to the TBI, the bottom one should go to the EGR valve

I have a question. About oil cooler lines 1995 k1500

I haven't looked up the exact years, but I know at least the first couple years of the GMT400 were like this. My 1990 K3500 454 has an NV4500 but no oil cooler. If you look up the cooler lines for that year on certain places, it will say "without manual transmission." Here is an excerpt from the...

I have a question. About oil cooler lines 1995 k1500

I have no idea why GM did this, but if you ordered a manual transmission truck the engine oil cooler was not available as an option. Not sure if they changed this in the later years, but at least on TBIs this was the case; it even applies to 3500s. In short, you’ll need to swap the adapter...

Rebuild - But not Restore, K3500 Farm Truck

No problem! One thing I’ll point out is that the pump (and pulley) look a little different on hydro boost systems but still use the same bracket/alignment. The one you currently have is definitely not the right one though

Rebuild - But not Restore, K3500 Farm Truck

Here’s the belt setup from a 1990 K3500 454. It’s a SRW should be the same as a dually. To me it seems like the brackets you have are not the GMT400 ones. Also from the pictures it seems like the valve covers are slightly different also; it’s possible this motor was taken from another platform...

    Cruise control cable

If you disconnect the cable from the carb you should be able to push the cable back through the sheath; there is a metal ball on the end that you can put in the loop in the strap strap after which the cable should push and lock in to the box. If it’s broken you’ll have to get a new cable

Oil Cooler and Oil filter relocate

Yea, it was on the gen V. My 1990 has a mark IV and doesn’t have the ports on the block, and for some reason with a manual transmission you could not get an oil cooler so there are no ports on the oil filter adapter to hook the lines up.

    Transfer Case Fluid Question

I’d use Dexron III, it’s pretty cheap at any auto parts store and you only need 2 quarts or so. I think there’s a bulletin from GM somewhere saying not to put Dexron VI in the transfer cases since it’s much thinner. It was designed to be backwards compatible for transmissions, not t-cases.
