The cap/rotor I ordered was United Motor Products # DCR 820X. I have never heard of the brand but the reviews looked good. I also ordered the Delco # 41-993 plugs. With winter coming soon, I need all the help I can get for sub-zero mornings.

    Building my first Chevy....aka..."Brute"

I went out and jumped into Brute to run to town and it did not want to start. And when it finally fired up, it was missing really bad....great...just great. I limped it up to the garage and started poking around. Finally popped the distributor cap and it looked like a Hollywood house party in...

I ended up buying poly cab mounts to get the body lines correct. I got the poly bushings installed last week. The good news, the body/cab line up very good. The bad news is that the ride is pretty harsh. On wash board gravel roads, everything inside the cab rattles and squeaks. I'm not to sure I...

Polished the aluminum American racing rims

Those look great! I need to strip the tires off of mine and wet sand them down to clean metal and start over. When I bought the truck, I didn't even realize they were aluminum wheels!!!! They were dark brown from rust and brake dust. I thought they were old chrome plated steel wheels that had...

    OEM cab mounts

I'll put some more miles on it before I go out and spend another $100 plus changing it. Maybe I'll get used to it but I am afraid all of the 20+ year old plastic will start cracking.

    Stock K2500 fender flare removal

lol......I feel your pain. I took mine off my 2000 K2500 and I am going to do something different when I put them back on. The rear ones were easy, but I'm not going to remove the front fenders just to put them back the way they were.

    OEM cab mounts

I got the poly bushings installed today. The good news, the body/cab line up very good. The bad news is that the ride is pretty harsh. On wash board gravel roads, everything inside the cab rattles and squeaks. I'm not to sure I can live with it. I'm probably going to have to bite the bullet and...

    OEM cab mounts

I just put a 3" BL on "Brute" (https://www.gmt400.com/threads/building-my-first-chevy-aka-brute.55016/) so the bolts and hardware are either new or have already been cleaned up. The body lines between the bed and the cab are way off due to worn out cab bushings. I ordered and Energy Suspension...

    OEM cab mounts

Does anyone know of a source to buy OEM rubber cab mounts? All I can find are the poly ones and I am told they will make the ride quality stiffer. Am I wrong about this?

I sprayed Fluid Film all over the rear chassie and got the bed put back on this afternoon. I still need to put bed supports and rear bumper on it, but the hard part is over. I don't like the way the fuel filler hose turned out, so I'm going to do something different there. The cab and bed are...

    Building my first Chevy....aka..."Brute"

This morning between knocking out chores on my "Honey Do" list, I mounted the new bed supports and put two coats of paint on the chassie. Everything from the front cab mounts back has now been cleaned, primed and painted. I'll do the same to the front section when I do the front brake and...

Started to tackle the broken bed bolts last night. Three out of the four were simply drilling out the bolts and chasing the holes with a clean-out tap. The fourth one wasn't so simple. That bolt didn't snap off, but the weld nut inside of the bed channel broke loose. There was no way to unthread...

Friday night I replaced the idler pulley and belt. It is quiet as a mouse now! Spent the weekend installing a 3" BL....or I should say tried to install it. The cab went pretty good except the E brake. That thing fought me for 2 hours. All the time I kept eyeballing the bolt cutters hanging on...

So far, I have found a nickel size rust bubble in each cab corner and a couple of pinholes in the DS rocker. I can't feel anything bad under the wheel well lip, but we will see. To be honest....for a 21 yr old Chevy, this is unheard of. There are very very few of them around here that aren't...

So far I have- Changed the oil. Beat out the dented part of the tailgate and replaced the handle and bezel so that works now. I replaced the hood release latch so I can open the hood. I replaced the blower resistor and the entire HVAC switch panel so now I have complete control of the...

Actually, these are the factory flares with the mounting stud holes in the fenders and bedside. If I wanted to run without them, I would have to weld up all of those holes. I am planning on pulling them off this weekend to see what is hiding under there. So far, I have found a nickel size rust...
