    4L60E Issue

Interesting, I have the same issue with my '96 Z71 with 5.7 l V8 & 4L60e. No codes that I can read with my simple android reader but I 1st thought it was a miss but now sounds like the TCC. I'll follow this thread & see what's suggested for a fix.

    How to find a misfire?

This is on my '96 Z71 with 5.7l vortex. I have noticed what appears to be a miss when running about 50mph in 4th gear (lock up), and I apply the gas, gently applying pedal, and just before it shifts down (out of lockup) and almost feeling like lugging the engine, I'll get a jolt at the same time...

1996 GMC Yukon 5.7 4l60e 4x4 multiple misfires but no check engine light

Check out this video showing the common problem with these GM distributor caps. You are better off buy a new GM replacement rather than an offshore part. [] Doing this from taptalk so not sure if link will display. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

    Replacement wheels for '96 K1500

Guys, will newer Chevy wheels fit onto my '96 Z71 4x4? I'm currently running the standard 265-65R16 6 lug wheels that came with the truck. I am the original owner. Will newer Chevy truck wheels (6 lug) fit the same lug pattern? Looking at buying some Chevy truck take offs that are 18" from a...

what is my '96 Chevy Z71 5.7L V8 compression ratio?

I'm curios what the compression ratio is for the '96 5.7L V8 Vortec engine. Is there a online site with specs for this model?

Any one using these LED headlights?

I have used a different make but very similar to those in my '96 Z71. The lights on my truck are very poor in illuminating the road. I replaced the whole asy's with new & added "white light" but still were poor. I ordered these (...

    Steering wander

Have u adjusted the steering gear at the adjustable set screw? Usually had a hex socket in it. Loosen the jam nut & turn the adjusting hex stud clockwise an 1/8 or 1/4 turn. You need to mark it before adjusting so u know where you started. If too tight, steering won't center on it's own. Keep...

    Is my '96 Z71 (4x4) really 4 wheel drive?

Thanks guys for all the input. Looks like my Z71 4x4 with open rear differential is only 2 wheel drive.

    Is my '96 Z71 (4x4) really 4 wheel drive?

I have had several discussions with guys about this and never got a good answer. Is this truck a "true 4 wheel drive"? The rear axle is a standard open (Not limited slip or posi-traction) When I put it in 4 wheel drive, it's my understanding that it may be "3" wheel drive due to the "open"...

Won't start and only 1 click at the starter ?

Look at you ground wire from engine to frame. Check the wire & the contact surfaces for corrosion. A weak ground will do this. Also, there are (2) contacts in side either the starter or solenoid that get carbon-ed up or the solenoid doesn't pull the matting plunger hard enough. I've had the same...

    Fluid Change Recommendations

I changed transmission pan to a "deep" pan (holds an add'l 2.5 qts) at 50k on my '96 K1500 transmission, that has a drain plug. Now I do a 'drain & fill' about every 10k miles with DEXRON VI; very easy as oil change, after installing the new pan w/drain plug. Since I do all of my own oil...

'96 5.7L alternator trouble; need some advice

@SAATR.....OK, yes, it's a 4 position connector with only (1) wire/pin in the connector. What about the engine size. I need that to be able to look up the part on line.

'96 5.7L alternator trouble; need some advice

@SAATR....what engine is this? 6.0l? when I check this at Advanced Auto it shows a 4 pin connector. My '96 has a 1 pin conn.

'96 5.7L alternator trouble; need some advice

@ Michael....why do you say that changing the alternator will not fix the pulsating lights? What else would be causing this beside a bad rectifier?

'96 5.7L alternator trouble; need some advice

Hey guys, My '96 Chevy Z71 w/5.7l is having alternator problems. The head lights & cluster lights "pulsate" when turned on. I was told that the rectifier is probably bad. I was told that I could check for AC volts across the battery terminal with voltmeter when the engine was running & if it...

Need help ID'ing VSS on my '96 Z71 auto trasmission

Thanks woody31, for both posts. After looking at the link I see that the tail end of tranny is actually the transfer case. This the guy I think is bad.

Need help ID'ing VSS on my '96 Z71 auto trasmission

Can anyone help with identifying the vehicle speed sensor on the automatic transmission of my '96 Z71 w/5.7 V-8 + 4x4? The shop manual says that on the 4 wheel drive, that it's on the transfer case. However, I see a sensor at the tail shaft area on the tranny, drivers side, that screws into the...

Coolant leak...need help diagnosing/finding the problem

Munly....This engine has a common coolant leak problem from the intake manifold, usually the back end. I have had my '96 5.7l Z71 since new & had this issue for the last 10 years. I would lose a small amount each week and never could find where it was coming from until last year when it got...
