    Power box

Apologies if you’ve seen this twice, posted on the dumb questions sticky and didn’t get any activity so I’ll post here instead. Probably been covered I suppose but fresh opinions never hurt… I’ve got a system I’m wiring up in my toolbox. I’ve run 2 gauge cable to the box from my battery (on my...

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

Probably been covered I suppose but fresh opinions never hurt… I’ve got a system I’m wiring up in my toolbox. I’ve run 2 gauge cable to the box from my battery (on my 95 k1500) to a fuse block I’ve built on a sliding tray in the box. From there it will run a 1000w power inverter and a 12v...

Hauling in some of the pumpkin harvest on the farm for my dad. The old tbi pulls these hay racks pretty good.

    Un identified leak

Not trying to be a smart Alec but is it possible it’s just runoff woolwax? The fluid film cousin is sort of clear yellowish as well when the excess runs off. If not looks like it could almost be gear lube from an axle seal or something like that. Keep an eye on fluid levels and that should...

No brake lights, cruise control doesn't work either on my 98 Chevy 2500.

So here’s the wiring diagram from my chilton manual along with the “key” for the symbol meanings if you’re unfamiliar . Not sure if it will give you good direction but like I said before a decent power probe will help out a good bit.

No brake lights, cruise control doesn't work either on my 98 Chevy 2500.

What year is the truck? Can you get any data with a scanner? Otherwise grab a back probe and start chasing it back and see where you’re loosing power. Make sure all fuses are good. Judging by the fact that you can jumper out the relay and get brake lights I’d assume that part is good...

    Bad idle

What Schurkey said. What codes were they? P0128 for cooling? Not sure what the knock sensor code is off the top of my head. I suppose they could be related but is your engine noisy? Pinging or knocking? Most likely I’d imagine the coolant temp sensor is causing your drivability issue and...

    Convenience center piggyback

Thank you for the info I think that will help a lot actually. Offers me good solutions and actually probably better than how I was thinking to do it!

    Convenience center piggyback

I’m planning on putting in a switch panel for some future additions to my “service truck” build. The plan is to add some work lights, a power inverter and a 12 volt compressor (the latter two will be controlled by switched relays hopefully controlled by the same panel) I want to use a...

    Hitch part number

Tried Reese and various parts stores. Reese only sells a “universal” hitch according to their site. Unless I’m an idiot which is highly probable.

    Hitch part number

Howdy, just looking for a part number for a proper hitch for my k1500. It’s a short bed so I’d like the spare to still be able to fit and my current hitch is set too far forward to be sleek or hidden, this puts the cross bar in the way of the spare. I was just curious if anyone has the part...

    Step bars

So I’ve searched around this site for a sticky with info regarding side steps for our trucks and have found some good stuff regarding steps for an extended cab 2 door (but I do have a question) I was curious if the cab mounts are the same distance apart on a single cab as the front two on the...

    Obd 1 scanner options

I’ve got the old 12(i think) pin connector, not the “new” obd2 connector on modern cars.

    Obd 1 scanner options

I have a few times. Searched around that is. Just wondered what the most recent info is on these things. Some of the threads go a few years back and it seems the “bricks” have been few and far between on the evilbay. I’ve looked for the solus a bit and my snap on guy is looking for a used one...

    Obd 1 scanner options

I’ve got a 95 gmc k1500 with a random reoccurring code 32 (a common goose chase on these guys according to our identifix program at work and this site) Point is I’d like to get a scanner for data retrieval. I have a moates aldl cable but I don’t like to use my laptop. I’d rather use a...

    Diag Help

My 95 Sierra (350, 4x4, automagic trans) has a longer than normal crank, a spark knock in 1st -2nd gear after being driven a while and a code 32 that I’ve replaced the egr valve for (not solenoid yet). And it shows in our old snap on brick scanner that it’s running lean. Question is where...

    Egr part numbers?

Does anyone know the proper part number (ac delco) for an egr valve for a 1995 k1500 (350) I’ve read a bunch of stuff and they offer a few options from delco so I was just curious which one it is. Original is long gone replaced with a parts store repop so crossing it isn’t an option I don’t think?

    Overheating issue...

Honestly, I’m not 100% sure what was causing my issue. I ended up needing head gaskets and a bunch of other stuff and it ended up fixing it for a while. Now it will get up to temp and drop down after driving for a short time. Not sure if it’s just the way these gauges read or what.

    4x4

I’ll start by saying I have a new actuator (electric type not thermal) and the on the floor selector. These all work. The problem arrives when the actuator “actuates”. You can hear it wine but it’s almost like it keeps bouncing off the shift fork inside the axle housing for lack of a better...

    Rear window seal/fix

Not sure if this is the proper thread but I noticed a rattling noise the other day going down the driveway and realized it was coming from the rear glass. It appears the lower seam of the whole sliding glass unit is detaching itself from the cab of my truck. I was curious if that’s a common...

    Overheating issue...

Did one of those a couple months ago don’t really think it’s that either unfortunately. Just kind of praying it’s not some sort of head gasket issue.
