No, distributor is good, no play, just fawked up fine threads on the metal base plate that the rotor sits on. Gonna loctite them, should be good.

Need help, truck died while driving 96 3500 7.4

Wow, wtf. Exactly the same scenario. Went and got coffee, and almost in the exact same location the truck just died. Maybe 2 blocks further than last time, towed it home again with my ford (i know) and pulled cap and found rotor was missing 1 screw and the brass contact on top broke off. Now...

Need help, truck died while driving 96 3500 7.4

Already fixed, process of elimination. Had spark, Had fuel. I checked spark at plugs before pulling dizzy cap, so it looked like it should've started, but because the rotor was pretty much just bouncing around it still threw a spark, but out of time. Until actually pulling the cap did I see it...

Five0motorsports,,,, bosch injector upgrade for 7.4. Was a little less than $500. Good warranty, Good reviews and I also know others with the same motor and injector upgrade. Pretty easy, 1 day job and was a very noticable upgrade, truck starts instantly and smooth as ever!

Ok, so it ended up being the rotor, the cheap ass oriellys rotor broke around were the screws hold it down. Was less than 6 months old,, Had a new one already in the garage, fired right up, fouled plugs and all.

Yeah, I get it, but the plugs fouling out enough to make it die and not run while driving?? Never heard or seen if that.

That's kinda what I was leaning too, for it to just die while driving wouldn't be plugs. It has spark, and fuel, should fire, even with fouled plugs. But had to work late so I won't look at it till tomorrow. Gonna pull cap and plugs tomorrow, Thanks

Will check tomorrow after work, haven't pulled dizzy cap yet, wanted to check other options. Could be injector issue, but there damn near new, replaced them with bosch upgrades not long ago.

I'll try it, but don't think that is the issue either, Has very good spark on all plug wires. I'm thinking it's something with distributor. Remember seeing something about these models having a distributor issue.

Fuel pressure goes to 60ish when cranking, fuel is not the issue. Even with starting fluid there is no change. After the new crank sensor it stumbled for a quick second, and then nothing. There is a slight back fire, and I mean slight, more like a puff ?

Doing fronts this minute and there damn near new, but doing them anyways. Any thoughts, there was no shake or...

Another issue with the dually, now the rear end.

Ok, so upon further inspection, take a look at 1st pick of inside diff. Fawking pinion inner support bearing is gone!!!!! Easy fix!!!

Another issue with the dually, now the rear end.

Got home and dove right in, pulled axles and center section and everything looks fine!! Even the brake hardware is new. I'm thinking it may have been an old wheel bearing that took a **** at some time, and some of it was left in the axle tube. Finally made its way to the pumpkin?
