    Well......bought a new truck

Score, found a set of stock LS1 valve covers I had powder coated for my WS6 that I forgot about. They have been out in my shed the past 3+yrs, they still look good as the day I got them done. I’ll slap these in with a billet coil bracket when I do the plugs/wires. I know there is a PCV...

    Well......bought a new truck

Well, got the cluster back. The guy didn’t have the color LEDs I wanted in stock and I wasn’t willing to wait so I only had him fix the cluster with a full rebuild with new incandescent bulbs for now, only cost me $100 and was done in 3hrs. Was not the source of my electrical issue though...

    Well......bought a new truck

Man same here honesty, this was like the needle in the haystack truck to find. I still can’t believe I drove it off at that price. I have discovered a parasitic electrical draw which Im sure is tied to the cluster, it’s a known issue with these 03-07 clusters. I noticed the PRNDL display is...

    Well......bought a new truck

Yea, it was a jump seat truck it seems but I already built me a temporary console out of MDF to get me by for a minute. I found a seller on eBay that has consoles for like $85 shipped so hopefully I’ll be ordering one in the next couple weeks. Also went ahead and built me a under seat...

Under hood and interior, I’m gonna repaint the engine cover. Whatever cleaner they used effected it.

    Well......bought a new truck

Not my first LS motor. I had a H/C/I 99’ WS6 I built myself. I got plans for this but it’ll be in due time. Most likely buy another set of stock 862 heads and send to a buddy to get worked over, long tube headers then a small cam like a TSP 224 so it’ll be really daily driver friendly while...

    Well......bought a new truck

Lol, my best guess from it’s condition was daddy owned the truck and that’s where the driver side stickers came from, then handed it down to son until graduation and that’s where passenger side stickers came from, lol. So far I love this thing, strongest running 5.3 I have rode in honestly...

    Well......bought a new truck

I had planned on getting my 97’ Z71 fixed but with everything it needed plus shop labor it put me over budget pretty good for the cash I ended up with available. Sooooo I took some of my budget and decided to put it down on a newer truck. Ended up finding a mint 2004 Z71 5.3/4L60 with 160k on...

    CSFI to MPFI question.

The pump is capable of supplying plenty of fuel, you can find MPFI units with higher flowing injectors than the AC Delco replacement unit. You won’t really know if your over commanding the capabilities of the Delco unit until you get into the tune. At that time you can get the tune to be...

    Body Mount Replacement Questions

I’m sure you could find a grade 8 bolt to replace it with at a local Fastenal faster and probably cheaper than LMC, I’d only use them for parts you can’t find at a salvage, real hard to find stuff ya know. But if you need the big doughnut washer then I could see just ordering both from them too.

    Fluids for new GM L31

I run Castrol GTX 10w30 year round here in Oklahoma, does just fine. I also ditch dexcool any chance I get, don’t care what anyone says, that coolant is nasty so I always switch to the older green coolant. I have had several dexcool issues on more than one GM vehicle.

    Mufflers - choices choices......

Have you tried the Thrush welded mufflers, they are very affordable and honestly I think have a better sound than Flowmaster or Magnaflow on these truck IMO.

    1997 K1500 Worth throwing $ into...?

Not always a true statement. I have seen some high mileage engines ran their whole life on conventional only to develope leaks after the switch due to the viscosity differences between the oils. My rule of thumb is to use whatever was originally run in the motor. If it came with conventional use...

    1997 K1500 Worth throwing $ into...?

Here is my point of view. You can damn near rebuild these entire trucks for less than you can buy a used truck with less 100k miles on the clock. That’s why I’m personally opting to go thru my entire truck and stick a new crate motor with 3yr 100k mile GM warranty. I can maintain this truck...

    Front end overhaul

Not messing with those, replacing the entire arms with new bushings/ball joint installed. Wish I could do the same with lowers but no new units are available.

    Front end overhaul

Added the end links to my shopping cart, thanks cause I missed those little guys. Again hubs will be looked over during disassembly and replaced if need be. Luckily my cousin bought tools to rebuild his front end last year and he offered to come help me do mine. Any tools we might need I’ll go...

    Front end overhaul

I’m about to get my 97’ Z71 back on the road finally and will be rebuilding the front end first. I’ve got some parts in my Summit cart but wanna make sure I’m not missing something. Moog inner tie rod end (x2) Moog outter tie rod end (x2) Moog tie rod sleeves (x2) Moog pitman arm Moog idler arm...

    GM crate engines?

^^See now this will also impact my decision. If it was a race or off-road application I would just do whatever but since it’s my daily driver and work truck I want the full 100k mike coverage.

    GM crate engines?

The 383HTE is quite a bit more than the long blocks I’m looking at right now. I’m buying 2 so keeping price down is important. One will go into my 1999 Tahoe while the other goes into my 1997 z71, both at K1500 series trucks.

Direct Fit Electric Fan Cooling Replacement

Electric fans can move a lot more air and be controlled, huge benefit over a clutch fan. It just needs to be installed properly and the fan settings be correct with all wiring and relays correct. If put together properly you won’t have any issues.

    GM crate engines?

I’m leaning more that way just wanted to ask around and get some others opinions before pulling the trigger since I’ll be buying 2 engines at the same time.

    GM crate engines?

Yea it is bc the stock 2 bolt it came with has lasted a damn long time and been used to tow with as well. So it raised my curiosity.

    GM crate engines?

All specs are identical according here to the information provided on SDPC site. Seems the only difference is the exhaust side of the heads, weather that’s one head casting now with 2 different exhaust seats or still 2 castings. Vins will almost definitely show the 2 bolt as the original motor...
