    Kill switch, 1997 k1500 pickup

Yes I have a kill switch on my truck leading to the ignition coil wire, I have it on a relay to save the switch from burning out. Been there for 5 years and no issues.

    Daily truck pics

Here’s a front shot from the other morning. The bumperettes I bought 5 years ago, they were new old stock for our body style. I have only seen them in one other truck. Honestly thinking about maybe taking them off and finding a nice push bar for her. But they’re rare to find in obs trucks so I...

    Towing Long Distance

I agree, my 95 is from NC and e brake works since day I got it, I also keep on top of everything like the yearly fluid filming underneath so it lubes everything. The 79 like stated is 0 rust and everything works as it should. I hate the rust belt that I live in but as long as I’m on top of...

Yea e brake works good on the Ford luckily. Same with my 95 Chevy, I use it all the time to keep it working good.

    Towing Long Distance

Got 2 solid trucks now, my daily 95 Chevy and the 79 Ford like my dad had that I’m gonna restore. Took the truck and trailer off this morning and man my truck feels so light and free from burden now. Later this week is a nice bath oil change and little maintenance. She deserves every bit of it.

Yes it did JUST fit luckily. I did wheelbase measurements before the trip, but after loading it on I was scared. But I had it in gear w/ e brake on, had straps front and back on it, also had the ones the trailer came with over front wheels. Was a crazy long drive, but big red made it. She’s...

So far it’s been quite the haul. Rain snow high winds brutal cold. Trucks doing fine tho. On the way home stopped to sleep for the night took a picture.

I checked the weather and I don’t see anything crazy, but the temperatures I see are going to be like 0 at night and 15 during the days. So I don’t need anything snapping.

I’m honestly going to wing it and pray and hope for the best. I’ve checked everything I could. Fixed a couple small vacuum lines I saw when under the hood last week. It’s still a TBI old school setup.

I gotta say tho, this forum helped me out with the 10-14 bolt swap. I couldn’t get the patterns or clearances right rebuilding it myself so I had to have a pro set it up for me. But everything else was cake thanks to this forum.

Believe it or not, I scored my Detroit locker in a junkyard already in a 14 bolt rear end. My 10 bolt blew over a year ago and wanted to convert to 14 bolt so I got really lucky. Best upgrade I did for my truck.

My locker “ratchets” around corners, basically opens when foot is off the pedal. When I hit the gas, the wheels will lock. That’s why when I was towing even with just the trailer I take the corners slow. I’ll be getting that truck 1/13ish 18 hrs away so I’ll have to post when I do it.

its definitely nice in the winter. I didn’t need 4wd last winter because I never get one wheel peel. They both lock and move the truck. Btw, I am making that trip to Arkansas anyways in about 3 weeks after all.

Honestly my locker did just fine. I took sharp turns carefully, it was pouring rain the whole time as well. When going 80ish it did fine. Stopping was fine I just paced myself to a stop. The locker helped me back up as it was rainy and muddy on soft ground. I guess ya just gotta know how to work...

    Towing Long Distance

Yea, I mean I drive all that way. There weren’t any more in that area I already checked when having breakfast before heading back. The seller thinks he has this million dollar truck, in my eyes it’s a 4,000 dollar truck knowing it needs a frame off. But it is what it is.

life sure does do that. Yes, pictures of everything except the 2 holes in the rails. Pictures and video were all around what it really was. Just too bad. Very upsetting.

    Towing Long Distance

Well I made it to Ohio and back, TRAILER ONLY. The truck I was picking up had rust holes in frame rails, so waste of time money and gas. But I will say the truck handled the trailer fine. Backing up and stuff no issues.

    Towing Long Distance

So to follow up so far, picked the U-Haul trailer up this morning. Guy was very friendly. Trailer seems good shape, checked lug nuts and tires on it. My truck didn’t squat an ounce and handles it fine. But again, it’s not loaded yet. Bringing extra straps. Truck I replaced tensioner and idler...
