    Budget 350 build combo

i regret not going 383 on my "budget build" i did about 5 or years ago. i also regret not doing forged pistons even though i have no plans to turbo charge or even make a ton of power. i think worth it for the detonation protection. blocked the deck so i could run the gm performance .028" head...

1993 Yukon crate motor hydraulic roller lifter cleaning and adjustment journey - (Solved)

seems like way to much preload...i remember doing this on my caprice almost 20 years ago shop manual says 1.5 turns after zero lash. it ran like absolute garbage, i ended up setting them at 3/4 turns and now I do 1/2 turn on stock GM stuff. you might have a little noise but worth it for gain in...

1993 Yukon crate motor hydraulic roller lifter cleaning and adjustment journey - (Solved)

ya ive never seen them shoot a stream out like that. usually just a dribble and then the tip of the rocker fills up and pours off

Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

i would consider dropping the oil pan and checking/cleaning it out. i could see the pickup being partially plugged with that much sludge in the valley.

    L31 Extreme Budget Build

I am going to add a coolant shut off valve to my squarebody as well, but my heater core returns directly to the rad. would it be better to use a valve that has both heater hoses in to it so the coolant in the intake can return to the rad when heater core supply is shut off? my late 80s caprice...

    TBI Rebuild Services

it's meant to be done with a hand drill. the drill bit has 2 different diameters. smaller portion uses the existing holes as a guide and then at the end of the bit is the part that drills for the bushing. works slick, i have done close to 2 dozen Qjets, TBIs, TPI/LT1 throttle bodies at this stage

powerbond waz manufactured in Australia, but I am not sure where now since they got bought by Dayco. I would think they would be better quality than most (pioneer, etc), unless you can get an OEM one. i bought a used "performance" balancer for my LT1 that was Powerbond and it is very good...

Driving '91 GM electronic speedometer from a US Shift Controller

just a disclaimer, i've never installed a US shift controller. i hear they are good, but I normally mess around with factory stuff. what vehicle? if you are trying to get the stock speedo to work you will need to keep the factory output speed sensor wires hooked up and "tap" into them for the...

    Lifter Recomendations For Cam Setup

i dont know much about big blocks so can't answer that..compcams uses aggressive lobes on their grinds which cause all sorts of valve train and/or lifter noise in my experience..i had an xtreme grind years ago and the solution to noise was to swap to a different cam.

fuel pump and oil pressure circuits

i think the oil pressure switch is also to take load off the relay contacts which would mean longer contact life. whether this was planned or just a byproduct i an not sure. in my field it is common we will "double up" the contacts on a circuit if there is a free set of contacts on a relay.

if your pump wasnt working it wouldn't move or would slip.... you have an electrical problem here.

on the valve bodies with the later pwm TCC valve line up (late 96 and up) you flip the inner valve and assemble the rest normally.

    Lifter Recomendations For Cam Setup

the issue isn't the lifter hitting the dog bone, but the oil band coming out of the lifter bore. this will bleed off oil pressure in the lifter valley and starve the valve train. i think .365" lobe lift is in the danger zone from what I remember. btw, they make a LS style lifter tray for SBC...

First real test drive today, after V8 swap.

I would remove thermostat and verify it opens, can boil a pot of water on the stove and test it. Also, the rad needs to get pulled and taken to a radiator shop. at least get it flowed and pressure tested. is the fan clutch original? probably time for one of those too... glad you got turnpro...

what was the part # for the internal harness you replaced? unless you have the wrong separator plate and/or gaskets using a pwm pump and 96+ valve body should work in your 94 case. I don't believe you can use a pwm pump with a non-pwm valve body. this sounds like an electrical issue to me...
