Return of the big green limousine.

Oh, trucks running again! Put about 3k miles on it, so far so good. Itching to mess with the lighting. I have not found any aftermarket headlights for my truck I really like, so looking into converting to 88-89 separate sealed beam set up and run the same headlights I'm running in my trans am.

    97 l29 crank, no start

FIXED! Sorry for the delayed response, been working out other small gremlins, and trying to clean up 2 years' worth of grime from sitting. I ended up finding some damaged wires behind engine, either I pinched them, or something chewed them. Had a few strands of wire left, would ohm out but not...

    97 l29 crank, no start

7.4 but I still think its timing related. I've seen that info about an 8 being there, I don't know if it's not on the L29's or I'm just blind, lol.

    97 l29 crank, no start

Tested with inline spark tester, was showing spark. Timing light was showing 14 degrees BTDC, which I think is too much, but couldn't find a for sure answer what it should be. Have not retested since new coil and distributor though. I don't know if I getting dizzy out a tooth or 2 on cam, I'm...

    97 l29 crank, no start

Yes, please relocate it, as I said it's somewhat time sensitive to get fixed. Thanks.

    97 l29 crank, no start

Did I post this in the right section? Not seeing much feedback, I am thankful for the 2 responses out of 120 some odd views I suppose. But this issue is getting to be time sensitive. Long story short, I need to get this truck running to drive while my black TA goes to the body shop to get fixed...

    97 l29 crank, no start

I'll give it a shot, but old dizzy and this new one still acted the same as far as no start.

    97 l29 crank, no start

I know on TPI engines you have to jump some wires to adjust base timing, and on some marine applications (according to google) you have to jump some wires in diagnostic port to adjust base time on a l29. Didn't know if it was something like that or not.

    97 l29 crank, no start

tried it the other way for the heck of it, seemed worse, would backfire through the intake.

    97 l29 crank, no start

I have recently buttoned my l29 back up but having issues getting it running. Will crank, backfire through exhaust every once in a while, but won't start. Cranking is uneven, seems to be a timing issue, but no codes are present. Has new injectors, new coil and new distributor. Fuel pressure is...

Return of the big green limousine.

Didn't have much luck searching for EGR delete info on here, most PN's are discontinued. Had a bright idea and sent one of the fittings off to a hose shop. Should work and costs $6 and some change. Will still make a plate to block EGR valve itself eventually.

Return of the big green limousine.

Trying to get this 97 c3500 going again. Tore it down about two years ago, expecting to fine something terribly wrong with it the way it was running. Didn't find much wrong so jumped the gun on pulling heads to inspect. In my defense had a crappy compression tester that led me down that path...

    New & looking for help/opinions

Any recommendations on heads or cam? Off the shelf cam or custom ground. Getting heads worked or new ones all together. And bonus question what's the go to for injectors on these L29's?

    New & looking for help/opinions

Yeah 400hp might be a little over ambitious. I know goal #1 is to get this thing going again, tore it down a few years ago and sat since. Tired of people stopping by asking to buy it so I got to get it moving again. Heads are currently pulled off, so was wanting to upgrade anything while I'm at...

That Corvette sounds like it gets smiles per mile instead of miles per gallon, still worth it! lol

    New & looking for help/opinions

The 400Hp goal is less important than fuel mileage and drivability I suppose, it just doesn't feel right a fuel injected big block is sub 300hp factory. Honestly it would pull anything I ever needed it to with the 4.10s. I guess my thinking was to up the horsepower and op for taller gear. I know...

    New & looking for help/opinions

Delayed response I know, going to try and stay active on here now. Basically, I would use the truck to occasionally pull a camper or haul cars but still cruise around a bit. Wanting to do anything to improve fuel mileage which I know still won't be amazing. Also want to increase power to the 400...

    New & looking for help/opinions

Well, finally coming back to this :D honestly forgot I had this account. Anyways truck is still down, but needing it back going in a bad way. After more research I really think my original issue was injectors. Currently have heads pulled off, wanting to upgrade whatever I can while I'm here but...
